Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim u have any guineas available for the end of the year

toward winter I am going to clean house.
I will get rid of anything with feathers..
right now I have just 5 guineas. one hen.
I don't expect a bumper crop of babies, if any..
last year she didn't produce any..

I checked the goose nest while she was getting something to eat.
only 5 eggs in there. I don't expect much from her.
it seems she is off the nest a lot.
maybe I should stick the eggs into the incubator.
they are due at about the same time as the chicken eggs I have in there now..

good afternoon,
I went outside to just adjust the tool bar on Ollie, that took about 2 minutes, then one thing led to another and before you knew it I had the four teeth on directly behind both back wheels.

I had Kalib help me order the 3pt hitch, it took him about 5 minutes to have everything done.

so by this time next week the 3pt hitch and the two hilling discs should be here.

maybe for once I will get my potatoes planted early...

bisy day. Worked 10 hours. Put in a few hours on the shed. Fed the chickens, the other chickens, the pigs, and the dogs. Took the wife to dinner and a few drinks too. Now finally some relaxation. These decent days are few and far between the next couple weeks so ya gotta utilize em.

I arranged for a Bobcat rental this weekend, BlueLine in Neenah is dropping it off tomorrow so I can "play" all weekend. Need to regrade some spots around the garage never done right when the garage was built, and want to level a spot for the kids pool this year, regrade some stump holes left from the tornado a few years ago, probably find some other stuff too.

Plan is for the Red Rangers to make it into a tractor this weekend just before they reach 3 weeks old, they act so much more like chickens than last years cornish X.

good morning,
I always smile when I hear of someone renting a Bobcat.
a few years back I rented one to backfill a garage foundation i was building.
here is where things go wrong.
I had a riding lawn mower that I was very used to running,
Left pedal = forward Right pedal = reverse.
Now I get on the Bobcat. start moving toward the hole.
Right pedal = bucket tilt. Left pedal = bucket tilt the other way.
It was a miracle that I got that foundation filled in without falling into the hole..
I did knock a few blocks loose, though.

Let the big girls out to roam this morning and moved the little ones into the laundry room. Thinking of putting their box out in the garage instead. It is pretty chilly in there, car thermometer says 50 usually when I get in it in the morning, but they have that heating pad to run under. I imagine they would be fine.

The rest of you guys sound busy, we are still a bit too cold up here to even think about putting anything in the ground. That's why all the tractor work for Jim. If I had one, I might consider taking the quack patch and putting it all into potatoes. Constant tillage might wear out the weed population in that area and then I could consider using it for something else. No way we could eat 10,000 sqft of potatoes, even if we are Irish...

good morning some more,

I got up way too early today, I am ready for a nap..

Sonja, if you put the chicks into the garage, make sure they have
plenty of insulation on the floor. concrete will suck the heat out of
anything, including animals.

my gander is a sweet heart. he comes to talk to me when I am outside. the goose is more stand offish ..

LOL , after my email to the guy on Ebay who I was trying to buy the tractor hitch from, and then after we finally got through and the payment went through, this morning I received three more confirmations that it is being sent ..

I am going shopping today, Menard's, F&F .

I am going to "invent" a sway restrictor for my 3 point drawbar. the one that comes from the factory is sorely inadequate.

Sonja, I do not have a turning plow for Ollie.
if you could get your sod plowed under, and then take a drag or disc over it periodically throughout the summer, next year you should have a pretty nice garden plot..
stay away from fresh manure..

Been years since I drove any farm equipment, heck years for any forklift even. Maybe it is good I got it before I cut the lawn this year so I don't have the foot pedal drive habit yet for the season.

Maybe I should have the wife video me trying to learn to drive it for comedy sake.........
