Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

shop vac'd up over 100 gallons of water so far in my basement. We got so much rain so fast last night that the gutters and ground apparently couldn't keep up. Mother Nature is a real b*tch sometimes.

it is a wonder how what looks like such a small amount of water can turn out to be so many gallons,

we were gone for a weekend once when the water heater popped a half inch hole right at the bottom. Nice to come home to an inch of water all over the basement.
we had a section carpeted down here. lucky it wasn't tacked in or glued down. we had to cut it into strips to remove it.
and then there was all the boxes of clothes and stuff. of course they were cardboard boxes. like trying to pick up cooked oatmeal with your bare hands.
it popped both heating elements in the heater , too.

its such a siht situation. I think this weekend I'm gonna extend my downspouts farther away from the house. That might help a little bit. Hoping to get right on the shed after work tonite. I was gonna take the weekend off...but I couldn't pass up the overtime so I'm gonna work tomorrow. Gotta quit doing that so I can get my projects done

overtime might not always be there,, the projects won't go away.

I am looking forward to a very productive day.
I will get to use my new 1/2" drive ratchet wrench a lot.

I am all cuppa'd up already.
no breakfast,,,,somebody else ate the last donut.

the sweet potatoe from the supermarket is not showing any signs of sprouting.
but the two that Sonja gave to me are sprouting all over the place..
they have swelled up so that I can just pull them out of the jar. I have to transfer them to a wider mouthed jar.

the transplanted tiny tomato starts are all doing good. getting new leaves already.

I have the same result so far with my sweet potatoes. My home grown purple sweet potato (from slips I originally got five years ago) is all rooted and swelled up while the orange sweet potato I got from the store (organic) is just sitting there.

Good luck with all the projects today and this weekend. I am hoping to get a lot accomplished, too. Enjoy!

It makes you wonder about "organic" produce in the big stores, doesn't it ????

Ooops! I spoke too soon! The orange sweet potato does have some roots developing.

Just me catching up yet again! We've been plenty busy with lots of wedding planning. Our daughter got married in Nashville last Thursday. It was a lovely wedding and the weather was beautiful! They got hitched without a hitch. We're so happy for them! We love her groom and his family. Next on my bucket list is grandchildren

The not so great news is from the barn. Terrible news actually. Something in the weasel family (white weasel, white mink, ferret? ) got into the barn and coop and wiped out my flock completely PLUS a 12 lb Silverfox rabbit and two litters of Silverfox babies. It was an awful scene. The hubs had to dig a hole with the tractor to bury all of the bodies. Only four roosters (of course) escaped the carnage because they were misbehaving and were put in the coop with the turkeys until freezer camp. I'm sure I'll rebuild but not sure when exactly. We have a June wedding reception to pull off and I just don't have the heart for it yet.

I may just build something to keep near the house. If these weren't so danged expensive I'd get me a couple... https://www.facebook.com/OmletUSA/

Hi, I am going to try this again. I got knocked off line about an
hour ago. this has been happening too frequently lately..
It is an old problem, raising it's ugly head again..

I got the hiller all done. gave it a test run. it seemed like it will work, but the garden is too wet to tell.. actually has some standing water on one side. but I made it in and out without getting stuck.
a couple of dry days should help the cause.

now I am ready for a break.
a root beer float sounds good to me..
