Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Picked up my chickies at 7:30 this morning. I think the postmaster was as excited when she called as I was! She was waiting for me when I got there to tell me she had already peeked and all the chicks looked good. That was an understatement! These are the healthiest, happiest, calmest shipped chicks I've ever gotten. They settled right down and started eating and drinking like little fluffy piggies as soon as I got them into the brooder. Within minutes they were chirping and trilling quietly and within the hour they were happily falling asleep standing up under the Brinsea or face first in the food dish. Markings, coloring, etc. will have to be judged later, but right now I am 100% sold on Hoover's Hatchery. I'll take lots of pics tomorrow but today, I just want them to relax, de-stress and do what chicks do best.

good afternoon,
the sun is out after the rain.

I got the new pressure switch installed . turned on the breaker and it immediately popped. WTH ??

I matched the wires to the old switch. Now what ??

Off I go to utube.. after watching
about 20 useless info utubes, I finally hit on a good one. the man told how to wire the switch so simply . 2 wires from the breaker box to the two outside lugs,
2 wired from the pump motor go on the center two lugs.

now we have more pressure than ever before.
i raised it from 20/40 to 30/50 psi

Well the house got struck by lightening. Power is out, furnace is whacked out, breaker box is fried. All phone lines are fried too. Split the pole outside down the middle and blew the lines right off the pole. One thing after another.....

wow corey,

like my old neighbor used to say,
"talk about excitement !!!"

I hope you have home owners' insurance ..

lucky the house didn't burn down.

I remember when I was a kid, the neighbor's BIG red oak tree got hit, four lots away from Dad"s house. It shook our house and I imagine every house on the block..

this makes your dumpster tumbling across the field seem trivial, doesn't it ??

I am thinking the lightning hit the high line and followed the wire into your house..

that's why you never see a lineman or a phone man on a pole if there is the chance of lightning even miles away ..

Wow Corey!!! We've had more than one of the old growth pines and tamaracks on our property struck, and in some cases, blown apart over the years but never had any damage done to the buildings or electrical tho we did have one strike so close the entire screen on the tv turned a weird pink and screwed up the hd on the satellite receiver. I am so sorry for all the damage, I hope no wiring is burnt past the breaker box. Poles and/or transformers are hit in our area so often most folks have their BB's specially mounted and reinforced. The power company started working last year putting all the lines underground (ours from the road already are). We were listed as the worst for power outages in the entire state (aren't we special?) so they actually got a grant to fix the problem.
I am so happy that you didn't have a fire to boot and hope they can get you inspected and repaired soon. :hugs

good morning,

yeah, Corey, now's the time to upgrade your electrical box to a 300 amp..
you can never have too much.
I have a 200 amp, I took 100 amps out to the garage from it.
I still have plenty to run the house, but I wouldn't want to have to add any more circuits.

Now i am off to the garden to see if I can get my tomatoes into the ground...

......jiminwisc....

ETA: Nope, still too wet to get in there with the tractor or the tiller....

Sorry to hear about the trouble Corey. My driveway was washed out by the non stop rain we had. I even had a river of water run through the yard that came off the neighbors field and the driveway ended up with a huge wash out when the river went down hill. The ditch just couldn't handle that volume of water.
