Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim, I have never managed to sprout a beer in my life. Please give me your secret, lol. I always bury my tomato plants deep when I first plant. I usually pick off the bottom 2-4 leaves and bury them. My tomatoes are currently 4.5-5 feet tall. Tomatoes forming.

I wonder if this is one of those rare times Jim is going to keep a garden secret?:lau

If it works, you all will be invited to come over and help harvest the crop.

I was going to replant some tomatoes into the long row today.
got the biggest baren section all weeded. then decided it was too hot to do any more.
what did we do before AC ?

I went out just before dark and put the hiller onto Ollie.
made a nice hill in the long tomato row. early tomorrow , if it is not too wet, I will transplant about a dozen tomatoes from the short row.

didn't get at the grapes yet. have to put in some posts and wires for them to climb on.
then from now on I will have to keep the raspberries mowed down so they don't over take the grapes again..

still only 6 ducklings. going to give the eggs about two more days. not a real good hatch for so many eggs..

we just had a short cloud burst right at 10PM. I think it is almost over already..

I would have liked a bit of rain today but we were missed. Going to pick up the new goat tomorrow. He is going to be so cute. Especially since my daughter thinks he will be riding home in her lap (which he may). Gonna be a long drive but, eh. Time spent trapped in a vehicle with the kids and then a goat and maybe a couple chicks. What could go wrong?

good morning,
I don't think we got missed by a single rain all summer..
I got about 20 feet at the end of the 190 foot long row of tomatoes weeded and hilled and ready for transplanting some plants from the short row.
just have to wait for it to dry up out there.
the corn needs some attention.
I don't think I will attempt to weed
all 9 rows. I will do just the north ends of about half of them..
we will see how it goes.
My back is so bad, I take a plastic lawn chair and sit on it while I pound away with the hoe.:old LOL.

I replanted the beets. not a single one came up from the first planting.

still only 6 ducks hatched. what a dismal incubation this was/is..
I will give them until tomorrow and then toss them.
over 80 eggs.. WTH ??

Taking a break from the garden and getting yhe boat ready for some fishin tomorrow. Cut 4 heads of broccoli and suzie made a big broccoli salad with sharp cheese, onions, sugar snap peas, nueskes bacon and her secret sauce. It something you can eat a lot of if you like those kind of salads. I'll have a lot of small zukes in the next couple days.
Enjoy the weekend!

My broccoli isn't quite ready for picking. Soon though. Got the new goat today. He is adorable and was a great rider. He did fart a lot but we managed. He did not live with any dogs and that shows. He doesn't know what to do about our shepherd. Hopefully time will heal it.

I have picked three heads of broccoli. The plants had an early start in my green house. Now I have to wait for the side shoots. I had 10 plants, but cut worms got seven of them.

I could not get your picture to open for me. Was it of the goat?

good morning,
the picture worked for me..
it is a goat.
really cool out this morning,
I am thinking a cuppa, and then out to the corn patch and see what damage I can do..

anxiously waiting for DD to come and help me transplant tomatoes.

Nephew Jake said he could come in 3 weeks to help me install the four new bedroom windows.
more anxious waiting.

no more duck eggs hatched. .
I called Jordan to come pick up the measly four that did.. hardly pays to drive 50 miles round trip just for that many..

yesterday I posted my puppy ad on CL S.W. Minn. it got flagged right away.. F*$%ing tree huggers..
but I did get one response before it got flagged.

ETA:
I guess the 4th wore all you younguns out.
I got out while the temp was in the mid 50's and
began pulling weeds. I got about 20 feet down 7 rows done. that's about 20% of the patch.
the corn is way more than knee high by the 4th of July.. Nice deep green leaves..

I am going to go back out and rake up the weeds and compost them, then run the rototiller through the whole patch and maybe weed some more by hand..
Notice that I said "maybe".. It is getting hotter out there..
