I'm done wishin and went fishin with my oldest daughter..we had a blast and caught 4 meals of bluegills..life is good. It was good to spend time on the water with her...and she thinks were just fishin!
good morning,
up, showered, dressed..
have company coming for breakfast at 9AM.
yesterday, I spent most of the day in with the AC.
when it cooled off somewhat in late afternoon, I fixed the reverse on the tiller and went through the whole corn patch. I have some hand weeding to do between the plants, but if I don't get it done it won't be that bad.
most of the corn is waist high..
one more time through with the tiller in about a week from now and that should take care of it.
Jordan didn't think it was worth a 50 mile drive to pick up 4 ducks, so I am raising them..
how am I ever going to downsize if things like this keep happening ??
had a new pip yesterday. doesn't look like any progress yet, today.
but that is ducks for ya. slow, slow. slow...
guess I will go up and make a potta.
........jiminwisc...
ETA:
company was here , ate, and left by 10:3o.
..it is raining now.
I had to go look at the corn patch this morning.
I can't believe I did the whole thing in one day !!
yep, been raining quite steadily here most of the afternoon. nice warm rain.
I don't care this time.. my garden is all weeded..
Of course, the lawn is a hayfield again.
the tomatoes look good, but they don't seem to be growing very fast.
I am beginning to wonder if the garden compost I bought isn't just leaf compost. at any rate it is not very impressive.
I dropped about a Tablespoonful of fish/kelp pellets at each plant.
I think it is too slow releasing.
the next time it quits raining I will spray them with fish emulsion. that'll be a little quicker results, I think.
has anyone noticed the low density of flies this year ? or is that a plague waiting to happen ?
Well, I finally got back on BYC and got caught up with all you chatty Cheeseheads. Getting only 4 or 5 eggs out of 11 birds right now.
I have one with a big red butt and one that is finally growing feathers back after being mostly bald all winter.
Something has taken all the tops off my tomato plants. Not sure what is going on with that. We planted some red clover and buckwheat for the deer. It is starting to come up, but we really needed to plant more.
Not too many flies around here either, but man! the skeeters are pretty voracious! Tough to let the dogs into the house without bring in a covey of mosquitoes also...
not much to choose from on TV tonight. going to be a long stretch until bedtime.
our motion light bit the dust during one of the recent rain storms.
I just rigged up a drop cord for Randy when he comes home tonight. It is like a fart in a wind storm, but at least he should be able to head toward the light and find the door.
Flies have been insane here lately. The big stupid green ones. Skeets have been carrying people away on a daily basis. Hoping you guys will send a little of the rain this way. I don't really want to water the garden if I don't have to. The new goat is a hoot. He is like a puppy. Follows me around everywhere. Teaching the little girls the ropes of being goats. I love looking out the window and seeing "the herd."
