Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I love hearing about all the projects! Summer is a busy time for sure. I found some ripe tomatoes yesterday. They will go in the picnic basket (along with other goodies) for a "picnic" with the 2-year-old grandson. We got a gallon bag of green beans in the freezer last night. There are more to be picked. We dried our "hayfield" in between rain showers and have it stored away for this winter.
All for now! Good luck on all the projects.
And welcome to the newbies!

here is a puppy "escaping" under the corner of the big pen.
he won't get far because he is escaping into the puppy pen that I set over the hole.
it was not long until she had lots of company.

Picked the first ripe tomatoes today (other than the cherries, they are always earlier). Broccoli is starting to give the secondary heads. Picked the second good batch of beans. Would have had more but the goats loved those plants before I fenced them out. Peppers are not doing that well. Plants are small this year.

Yes, I picked the mushrooms out of our back yard. I never buy them anymore. Between the shiitake we grow and the hen and chicken of the woods I have a freezer full every year.

Same here. All my gardens doing great except my peppers, they fizzled as well. Oh and the potatoes didn't care for our soaking June.

well Mel, they must have heard:
"it doesn't hurt to try "
My peppers are still about as tiny as they were when we planted them a month ago. I have about 6 varieties. however, where I planted them is a wetish spot.. prolly have cold feet

my potatoes look good on top. we didn't try digging any yet. I hilled them as soon as they were tall enough to stand it. the soil drains quickly if they are hilled.
Annie has picked over 600 potato bugs .
the plants don't look any worse for wear.

Jordan's eggs didn't show much promise last night. we were guessing about the due date.
I was going to give them until tomorrow and then float them.
now I don't have to. from 9AM today until now we have 10 out of 13 hatched. we sort of knew that at least two of them were clear, but we set them anyway.

the tractor tire is all repaired.
new tube, new rim. precautionary patch inside of the tire over the tiny hole so no sand can get forced in. $368.oo. It would have taken me two weeks to just get that tire off of the rim..
I watched and learned a few things.
education always costs a little U.S.$$$ 's
right ??

we went to a new Mexican place for supper.
the only Mex food I like is chimichanga's.
this is the first time I ever had a chimi from a buffet. it was good.
GG, it was at Chapter Two .

the beans are starting to sprout little beanies.
in a day or two should be ready to pick.

I got a call from Wyoming about the pups.
the guy has 1200 acres and hundreds of sheep. lost 8 to preds in the past few days.
really wants a full grown dog.
I might sell Zeke to him. he will drive here to pick him up.
wait and see..

I've got spaghetti squash growing like crazy. Tomatoes are still green. Beans are good but I didn't plant enough to can them so I'm giving them to the chickens as I pick them. I got my garden in about 2 weeks late because I was waiting for a guy to help me put up fencing to keep the dogs out. My garden is just full of weeds...hard to see the plants. I was going to put down newspapers but that didn't happen. Next year I will. I hope to get enough tomatoes to put up for the year.
Jim...thanks for explaining the LGD...I didn't know what that meant. They sure are cute.
Thanks for the welcome everyone

Late night, up early. Hubby out the door to work and then Grant county, kids still snoozin hard. I miss that life sometimes.
My tomatoes are starting to turn, but don't seem to be in any hurry. Still swimming in beets (hint hint) and the new lettuce crop is beautiful. Beans don't grow well when they are left in their bag on your destk.
Just sayin.
