Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

My parents had a summer cottage on Post Lake....we used to spend a lot of time in Antigo when we were "up North". I remember it being a great place.
Hi Koko :frow
you probably remember seeing the potato fields that are just east of the lake as you travel highway K toward highway 55. Our place is behind those potato fields.

Hi all,
just checking in. Been a very busy time with the weather holding so well. We did manage to sneak in a little goof off time on Sunday. DH surprised me with breakfast at the Paul Bunyan Cook Shack in Minocqua then a nice color viewing down some back roads and then spent a few pennies at Lake of the Torches. Hadn't been there in years. No wins but we had fun anyway.

Then it was home and back to work.
The new chicks are getting to be a handful. I'm going to have to mix them in with the adults this week probably. I'm just stalling because I've got an 18 month old GLW hen that is a real brat and I know she's going to be a trouble maker. I may wind up mixing them and figuring out a way to isolate her for a while. I have peepers but hate to resort to using them.

Thanks for sharing the pics bl4...looks nice, and happy you finally found a place....the long commute is finally over!

Good to hear the corn was all used Jim...worth the effort then for sure.

Hi, just hiding from the sun and heat for a little while.
I got most of the siding on the wall. just have narrow strips between the window openings to do and the wall will be ready to stand up.
I will finish the window openings later. they can be done after the roof is on.
there will be a lot of table saw work to cut the angles needed.

Annie baked an apple pie this morning.
I don't care for hot apple pie.

She is gone picking raspberries at DD Barby's
It seems like I am living from one pie to another lately. this morning I finished off the carrot cake..

good morning,
we are in the middle of a nice thunder storm.

I have/had the wall all finished and ready to stand it up. then last night I suddenly realized I made a mistake on it.
I was supposed to cut 5 1/2 inches off of all the studs before assembling the wall.
well, I forgot.
now I have to remove siding and saw the studs off . and rebuild the bottom portion of the wall.
can't do it in the rain, so I get to think about it some more.
we had our last meal of corn on the cob yesterday. it was sort of over ripe..
we got it frozen just in time.

I have to go get some 6 inch pole barn screws.
might as well do that while it is raining.
this is the wall on the table waiting for me to fix it..

ETA: I got the wall fixed.
picked up the pole barn screws. (way more $$$ than I thought
they would be)
bought a new skil saw blade.
I like a good sharp blade when I am making rafter cuts.
the sun was sort of out for awhile.
looks like rain again.

Dang..we are getting more rain today. This really is the summer of the rain here this year...not complaining just sayin is all.
We canned another 9 pints of sauce today...plus enough left over for the stuffed peppers we are going to enjoy.....I only have banana peppers growing now. They are turning their nice red color that will be enjoyed here one way or another.
Laying is backing off here now with the shorter days, but still have enough eggs to eat and share.
