I just finished watching America's Got Talent.
I picked Darci to win the first time I saw her.
this is the first time I have ever picked a winner.
I have long since given up on Miss America .

I want to set my wall up tomorrow. If I can't get help, I am going to do it myself.

don't mind what I say. I will shame some people into helping.
If I did do it myself, I would lift it with the tractor bucket loader.
swing it about into place and adjust with come alongs and crow bars ,,,and BIG hammer..

But I love construction projects!!! You would probably be telling me to go home. I worked with a crew that built log homes for a couple years and loved it.

Me too.
I never built a log building, but I would like to, some day.
just a small one room thing like a chicken coop, or an outhouse..

I think I have help this afternoon to set the wall.
I am thinking of using the box on the pickup truck as the table for the last wall.
then I just back it into position and tip the wall off onto the sill plate.
this wall will be under the roof so I don't think I will have to be in a rush to put siding on it.
I want to get the roof on asap..

we are teaching the 3 month old pups to lead on a leash. the first time for them is quite traumatic. but after a short walk and a few minutes, they start to get the hang of it.
a bunch of short sessions will do the trick.

The log homes we built were huge. Logs the length of a semi trailer + and over 2 ft at the butt. They were fully scribed. built in Canada then disassembled and shipped to the states.

Nice afternoon here...Congrats on the uhaul chicken tractor bbp! Now that is getting outrageous, but dang good lookin!

Still need to dig the carrots and the russet potatoes....maybe in the next few rainless days...

Hello fellow Cheeseheads! My husband and I are new to this hobby and are loving it. We have 2 Blue Wyandottes (28 + weeks, started laying about six or seven weeks ago), 1 Salmon Faverolle (24 + weeks, started laying a few weeks ago), 3 Silver Laced Wyandottes, 3 Buff Brahmas, 2 Light Brahmas and 1 Silkie Roo (I had to have a Silkie), all 22 + weeks, for a grand total of 12. Today, we kind of figured out that our 3 Silver Dottes all laid an egg. They currently are in a 12 x 14 barn stall with ventilation and natural light etc. We haven't got our coop and run finished because of big life events. However, the chickens all seem fine and very healthy. At this point, I think we're going to keep them in the barn stall (which has perches and nesting boxes) because of electricity and water (heated) available until next spring (please don't judge!). I am introducing myself because I have a few questions for the future. I would love a few EEs, Amercaucanas, and Copper Marans because of their egg color. I already have a broody Blue Wyandotte and next spring I expect she will be broody again or one of my other Dottes will be. Is there an easy way to find out who in our state or MN would be willing to sell and possibly ship fertilized eggs from these breeds? Would it be better to buy chicks that are sexed? If I do get some of these other breeds, I will most likely have to give up a few of my current hens to a good home. Any advice is appreciated. I do think I will be asking more questions as winter is coming and I want my flock comfortable and healthy. We are in Northern WI - just outside of Shell Lake. Thanks!

Shasta, your barn stall sounds very adequate,
You might decide to keep the chickens in there instead of building a coop.

I had GS and Annie help me set the wall ,
it was quick and easy.
earlier I laid a couple of 2/6's across the box on the pick up truck and got the whole 12 foot long wall all framed .. I ended up 4 2x4's short. they are going on each end of the long wall for beam supports.

I suppose pictures would help clarify my madness, eh ?

we are using potatoes from the garden. Russets. very fluffy and white.
soon we will have to dig the whole row.
I hope it stays dry enough..

this is the pick up truck work "table"
that is the other 12 foot long wall all framed up and ready for siding.
too hot out right now to do anything outside.

this is the second wall up. rough openings for the windows.
this wall is 5 1/2 inches shorter than the side walls. the doubled 2x6 beam will rest on this wall. there are beam pockets at each end of each long wall.
