BBP. I think the slow chick market is due to the extended winter we had.
Once it warms up, I think things will start popping.

If I am not dragged off to town today, I have a good chance to work outside and possibly get my table sander parts made and put back together..
I have one roller finished, just have to drill both ends of the second one and install roller bearings in place of the brass bushings.

I have a buyer for one of my incubators.

I got the new shaft made. got the roller bearings implanted into the ends of the roller.
Plan A, drilling the 1 1/8" hole with the lathe did not work.
Plan B, making a jig and drilling the holes
with the hand drill did work.
I ran out of daylight so I didn't get it all
put back together.

And naturopaths too! (I live like 5 min from a naturopathic college. there might be more NDs than MDs around these parts!)!

Just a heads up - last year I wanted to see a naturopath, and found out that something with WI law meant they weren't recognized as medical doctors so they weren't covered by insurance.

the bottom picture is the sander all put back together. I still have to get a new sanding belt for it.

Thank you! I have a better idea of what you are working on now. Not knowing the tool you were working on made it hard to picture it in my mind.

I partially dug the holes for two elderberry bushes yesterday. I had an almost three-year-old helping me. He had to make some bridges.

I finished the job today without my helper.

it must be tough working without a supervisor ..

last year I started a few cuttings of elderberry during the winter. they did take root, but I got busy and neglected to water them. .
this year I am going to try green shoots.
I have one awesome bush right in the ditch along the road. I am afraid that the stupid town workers might come along with that oversized weed whacker and destroy it. they have no respect for anybody..
years ago I had 3 rows of douglas fir trees planted on my property, along the road. a hundred of them.
the town was doing some road work and unbeknowst to me, decided to park their graders and loaders on my tree rows. it was wet and the ruts were really deep. I got ahold of the town supervisor and told him that I did not appreciate that. guess what ? the next day when I got home from work, all those machines were right back.
he sent two guys out who grumbled the whole time they were replanting the new trees, (not douglas firs) . they were doing a half ssa job and would not listen to me . None of the trees lived.
I do have a single douglas fir out of the original planting. how they missed that one, i don't know..

that tree way to the left in this picture is the Douglas fir..
the grove of trees are Jack pines that we planted .
when we moved here and built our house, this was all cow pasture.
we planted every single tree that is here.

the east side of our front yard. I own the hay field, too..

after those come the Black Walnut grove. 80 left out of a 100 planted.

Good morning to you all. Jim if this is a recent picture, it looks like all of your snow has melted? How about you BBP?

Definitely no snow here! All of my early spring seeds are in the ground. The electric fence works wonderfully on keeping Theo out of the garden, but the dang hens keep getting through. Argh!

The chicks are 4 wks old now and are practicing their flying skills. When I kick the hens out of the coop, I let the chicks out of their digs and into the coop. What age do you all recommend introducing the chicks to the hens?
