In regards to the egg being candled...looks like a quitter to me...but you have nothing to lose by giving it chance like other have stated. Not knowing it's age makes the decision a wait and see...in my opinion.

good morning,
it threatened to rain all night, finally at 7AM it started. a nice slow soaking rain. I don't think it will last too long, though.
going with Annie to the "truck" at Menards to get some blueberries. a couple of weeks ago she got peaches..
getting ready to try rooting some shoots of grapes and elderberries.. maybe try some apple cuttings , too. our old tree is not looking too chipper any more..

Got six pints of (hamburger) dill pickles canned yesterday. The green beans are done producing, so I am getting a break from them.

It is raining here now and has been for most of the early morning hours. It is much needed.

I think my wife is right, these chickens have changed me. I just caught myself on my hands and knees in the compost pile showing them how to find the grubs. Not sure they needed the lesson but I sure do have to laugh at myself. Is this normal? LOL

just finished a cuppa and now I have enough energy to write.
Chermoz, yes I do use rooting powder.
right now I couldn't tell you exactly where it is, though.. LOL
It is put away with my hand pruner, I think. If I find one, I will find the other.

Heinzie, no that is NOT normal behavior.
but then again, if we were normal, we wouldn't be messing with chickens..
I can just picture you; standing with your hands on your hips, and scratching the ground with your toes..
no rain here today, yet.. what we had
(1/2 inch) really greened up the landscape
and it probably doubled the mosquito population..

I wouldn't mind a hive here, if someone else took care of it..
after it cools off a bit i want to go out and trim off some of the extra grape vines.
I want to try rooting a bunch of them so I can start a new row..If I plant them six feet apart, I should need about 20 new plants.. this time I will plant one row instead of two, like I did the last time..
that will make taking care of them much easier..
the demolished elderberry bush is sending up new shoots..maybe something positive will come of this episode..

How do you re-root grape Vines? I have a HUGE amount of Vines that takes over a tree every year. We bought the house 4 years ago and they're always been here like this. I would love to trim them down and replant them in our field area instead of in the telephone wire are taking over the trees.
