I got up early and finished staking up the vines with air layers on them. turns out there were 12 of them, I thought I had only 10.
was going to take a picture but the camera needs to be charged..
Annie picked up a few nice 3 gal pails from the supermarket deli.. I have to drill holes in the bottoms of some of them for planters.
I will use one or two of them for rooting scions..

eta: today I air layered two of the apple trees. I have 3 in one and 1 in the other.. I will be doing more , soon..

had my coffee outside this morning. the skeeters left me alone..
our fair has started. seems like it gets earlier each year. there is no way the local farmers can exhibit corn and wheat/oats this early.
actually most garden veggies aren't ready either..
they should change the name to summer fun days..

I know @jvls1942 , the news team was talking about start of school/end of summer. Folks, it is only August 1 and there is a lot of summer left. Only 2/3 done for the kiddos. For me, summer runs into mid September, when the hot humid days finally end. I remember sitting in the classroom trying to stay awake because it was so hot. The school didn't have air conditioning, Most of the windows were sealed shut so you couldn't open them and no fans either. We were allowed to wear shorts only on days where the temp was predicted to be over 90.

I saw a farmer combining wheat just the other day near me. It looked like a decent crop too. DH planted oats but they never came up. Our buckwheat is growing like crazy though and the blue corn is just starting to tassel out. Last year the blue corn was over 6 feet tall, this year it will be lucky to reach 5', it is about 3 1/2 to 4'. We need rain.

we got some rain today. i think there is more on the way.. I just can't work up any ambition
I was going to mow some grass, but now it is too wet..
had the rest of my chef's salad for brunch with a cuppa and a donut..

DH sharpened the blades on the zero turn mower last weekend. It mows so much better with sharp blades! He finally found an affordable ATV lift so he can change out the blades. He has 2 sets of blades for this mower, his plan is to always have a sharp set on the shelf, with the lift it is only a 5 minute job to change them out.
The wild grapes are taking over everything this year! I had to cut one back that was growing on the dog fence, it was starting to take over the gate. Any advice on killing grape vines?

YES, just try to transplant one you really want to save..

I prefer the wild grapes for making jelly...I promote the vines here...best jelly you'll ever taste.
I could never walk away satisfied with that little teaser plate bl4....hope you had a cheeseburger and fries to go with the appetizer. :fl
