In my experience when they first start laying they don't start in laying every day. If you're getting them a few days in a row, they're probably from separate birds. It takes them awhile to regulate.

Batten down the hatches for a cold one tonight....I added extra straw and some corn for treats this afternoon for added comfort. They love their afternoon treat before they go to roost.

let it get cold.. I just plain give up..
went to the eye dr. today. took the field of vision eye test.
the results were inconclusive. the girl gave me the wrong test.. have to go back in Jan for the correct test. then he is going to see what he can do for my double vision.

Thanks keedokes I was starting to wonder about that, at least they all use the same nesting box, but the strange thing is once I remove the egg they destroy the nest. Then they rebuild the nest exactly the same to lay again. Seems counterproductive to me, but then I am not a chicken lol. Keep warm everybody good night

Chickens are amazing Heinze....one can provide plenty of nest boxes, but the chickens will fight over laying in the same nest when they have to lay at the same time...then all of a sudden for no reason, they decide a different box is the favorite one...silly hens...out the door to replace the hard water with some liquid water....
The wood heat sure feels good this morning.

Fish Fry Friday once again. Tonight we are gonna have deep fried perch and tilapia with ho-made fries and ho-made cole slaw. Winking Owl wine with the dinner goes really well with the fish.
Keep the fire going...time to break in those fireplaces bl4....they look a lot better when blazing...

Cold cold cold! Nice and cold to make the Ice Castles downtown! Looking forward to going through and experiencing them.

State forester is coming by on Wed to check over the black walnuts.... I hope we have seen the last of those trees!

Now to get moving on that shed.....

I don't know what the big fad was to plant black walnut was all about back in the day, sure the lumber looks nice but there isn't anything else appealing about them. The nuts are bitter, they kill everything else around them, and they are kind of an ugly tree. In my opinion
Getting my fishing stuff ready to try and get some northern tomorrow, I hear we got 6 inches of ice on the lake.
