Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I am in De Pere. I am looking for someone local to buy chicks from. I really would love Americanas. Do you know of someplace close? Near Green Bay?

welcome,
how many chicks are you planning for ?
this time of the year it is difficult to find anybody hatching chicks.
I suggest you finish building your coop first
how many chickens are you allowed where you are ?

Sound advice!!!
I’m use to the temp staying pretty warm down south, so this is a first. I can wait, give me more time to make coop. No limit on what I can have here I’m looking to have a flock of about 8.

Welcome to the cheeseheads Jusavi! Yep, being prepared before you start is the only way to go. It makes the whole chicken raising hobby way more fun and eliminates stressful things that can otherwise show their ugly face. If you are just looking for a variety of colored eggs in the carton, there are quite a few folks that have crossed chickens that lay brown, blue, green, olive etc...

If you are planning on only 8 chickens, then build your coop ten times the size you need for 8 chickens.. trust me..
make a hatch or removable window to toss the s##t out of. and make the door wide enough to fit a full sized wheelbarrow through..
make the threshold of the door about 6 inches higher than the floor so when you open the door you are not plowing through the bedding..
don't judge the winters by what we are having right now.. we haven't even begun to have winter yet this year. but it is coming,
