My power outage hatchlings are all fluffed up. Cuties.

Icey today. Slipped and slid down the path to feed the chickens, and so did they when I opened the door. Chickens ice skating is actually fairly humerous, but they seemed to take it in stride.

my birds have refused to stop outside for the last 3 weeks.
Not even BOSS could entice them out the pop door.

Round two of this storm is just starting, and wish it would miss us, but it's not looking like it.The worst part will be the cold temps that follow.... I imagine Florida would feel pretty good right about now!
Come on Springtime, hurry up and get here.

We had a four-day hatch of Icies from Saturday to Tuesday--and 15 of the 18 hatched. We're pretty happy over here. Lots of entertainment

Super icy though! It doesn't help that the path isn't level--everything slopes down towards the barn. The poor dog doesn't have chains for the bottom of his paws.

All of our chooks are staying inside, too. I think they hate especially when the roof starts dripping a few inches in front of their pop doors.

The hens here are not a big fan of snow either...can't blame them for that. Congrats on your hatch kee...more early Easter chicks.
I have a 12X12 covered pen attached to my coop for the roos...I wrap the outside with heavy plastic for the winter and fill the pen with straw....the boys get to enjoy that space all day, even when raining and snowing and blowing....the steel roof actually becomes insulated with the blanket of snow on it..... I would do that for the hens coop, but then the roof would block the sunlight on my row of windows where the pop hole is...one can always learn how to build the perfect coop, from lessons learned with what you have built.

Beautiful picture.

It can't decide if it wants to snow or rain here today. Glad I'm retired and don't have to go anywhere. Watching TV, the procession to the funeral parlor for the police officer who was shot yesterday. Very sad. He was only 35 years old.

Yep, I thought the same thing for a while after I retired, but the volunteer in me keeps me out and about helping in many ways where the difference seems to matter, but the paycheck comes ten fold in different ways than when working. I question why sometimes I do what I do....never seems to be a answer, but working with different volunteers is truly a blessing...just sayin.

I plan on volunteering, heaven knows there's enough of a need here. I just retired in September, so enjoying a time of no schedules for a while. I'll tire of it soon enough, lol.

Good for you. Once they find out you are retired, you will have plenty of offers. It is a sure joy working with volunteers....folks who give their time without pay for a good cause are so pleasant to be around.
Just made it home from blowing the snow at our church camp...takes about 2 hours to clear the long drive thru the woods....sure is pretty in the woods this time of year.
