Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Speaking of what are the odds …….. that out of my 15 chicks, 12 are Ameraucana pullets, and 2 lav orp pullets and only one cockerel lav orp. I'll prolly never get that lucky again.
Hope the Falcons can beat the Queens today.

Rooster delivery day today! Cutting three of the crew hoping the stress level will drop a bit. Really need to remove the loudmouth, he is a bit of a bully especially to the new birds.

The newbies survived the night, still hanging in a clump by themselves freeranging though.

the last time I bought guineas, I bought 9 from two different places. those two flocks never did combine into just one flock. even when it dwindled down to 6 left of one flock and just 1 from the other flock. the single bird followed the 6, but never got right into the mix. this went on for 3 years until they all finally died..

Amazing how they get in their certain clicks and it never changes. As soon as my young ones are a little bigger, I want to have all the birds in one coop this Winter. Trying to keep the workload a little lighter than last Winter.

As I only have one coop, they all need to figure out how to get along. I found two of the six hanging with the rest of the flock today, and tonight one was on the roost hanging with the big chooks.

Made TerriO happy today, took her two Marans Roos for her breeding program. Hoping that with less Roos the atmosphere will settle down a bit..... too much testosterone over here.....

It will seem like night and day difference with elimination of the extra boys.....your pullets will be much happier.
I have so much fire wood to cut it's overwhelming when I look at all the huge downed trees....cut yesterday and today and only opened up an area to work some more....I'm blessed with more firewood than I'll be able to cut.

Good evening All!

Another busy work year. All the rain has not helped out.
Down to one business, so it has removed a lot of stress.
Just the two of us to worry about.

Clean, feed, and collect eggs....is about all I've had time for.
No roos...all canned & waiting for colder weather & soup season.

I have no bcm for the 1st time in a long while. May have to look for a few.

Any free time going forward will be FFF ( family/firewood/friends )
Have a great Fall!!

Yep Jim you are so right about the work load seeming more than one wants to deal with...little by little works well and still gets enough accomplished.
More rain days off from cutting wood...I know I will still be cutting with snow on the ground.
