Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Happy New Year to all!
The Bash can prolly be found back in the old chicken stock thread on that forum. It's held the week end after Memorial week end near Clintonville.

I got up at 3am, heated up a cuppa day old coffee.
thinking of making cinnamon rolls with creme cheese frosting. gotta get the cream cheese first
.thinking I might take Ollie and scrape what I can off of the ice in the parking area.
who knows ? might even get it scraped down to bare ground ..
A friend sent me a picture he took yesterday of a frog in the snow.
He lives in way southern Mich along the lake..

No frog's in the snow here for sure. Hope everyone is enjoying this balmy Jan weather.
FFF tonight is deep fried haddock with ho-made fries and ho-made coleslaw. Took my last head of cabbage out of the fridge and it's in perfect condition yet. Late cabbage keeps so much better than any early variety...they would have gone bad by now. The early cabbage just doesn't grow real tight leaves like the late does...just sayin.

Hey Bigzio ~ I tried to check out the Annual Bash that is in your signature with no avail. How can I find out about it?

WOW gettin up at 3am? I am still up drinking a Pabst. City of Whitewater spread that 'brine" on roads all day yesterday and still no snow. Had a customer say it was flurries earlier in Madison

I made cinnamon rolls yesterday.
I am not at all impressed with the instant dry yeast. this was my second time using it. I have two pounds of it.
after an hour, there was no sign that it was rising. So I activated 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast and ran the mixer w/dough hook for a few minutes. that did the trick.
the rolls turned out great. made cream cheese frosting. the recipe was way too much for one batch of rolls. next time I will cut the recipe in half and make it a bit more runny. pour it on instead of spreading it on..
the picture of the frog in the snow is on the
"Helpful Hints for Building Coops"
thread on byc..

Gonna fire up the grill today for some burgers...perfect playoff football food.
I did manage to split over a face cord of wood yesterday. Nice to have that pile finished...prolly 10 more yet to go.

I'm sorry to hear that you don't like the yeast. I have never had any problems with it, I have been buying it for years. Instant yeast is just a smaller granule than the Active Dry Yeast. It should react quicker than the Active Dry yeast.

Yeah, I know, I tested it for virility , It is very good fresh yeast.
but when I add it to the dough mixture it seems to just quit.
I will keep playing with it. I have not had a complete failure , but it seems to be slower than when I use the active dry..

I went out and checked the v belt on Ollie.
It doesn't seem to be too loose. I will run it as is for awhile. If a problem arises , then I will change the bracket.
It is getting colder by the minute outside.
going from +27F this morning to -5F tomorrow morning ...
