Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

fair size table how tall and thickness of top? Sounds like my barn i clean and just move the mess around what I need is a garbage dumpster and move it out.

Pretty good day sold 34 doz 15 doz ordered and wife has about 40 or 50 doz ordered and also a existing order for 12 doz tomorrow morning, got soaked this morning picking, than the rain came down harder, at least I was inside for that. Dont know if it made much difference though.
I measured the table today.
3ft x 8ft x 30inches tall.
the top is about 1 1/2inches thick.

we are going to have corn and BLt's for supper.
we buy corn, half dozen at a time. we drive past the corn farmer just about every day.
today I got the new light fixture up. as usual, things didn't go as I planned.
the recept. that I was going to tap into was already tapped into.
I would be done with the wiring if those screws that come with the ceiling boxes weren't so soft. they go half way in then the head strips out. then can't get the screw out because the head is stripped out. can't get hold of it with a vice grips. I found two good steel screws to use.

I know the quality of the hardware is less than quality now a day.
While it's one more step, and a pain to change bits, I always predrill the holes first with a smaller drill bit, and then they slide in nice and straight. One small knot in the way without the extra step of drilling first is worth the effort.
They can't make stuff cheap enough today, eh!

WOW now thats a table I am curious I will send a PM, but really bz for next few days, sold 80 dozen today good day.
Wife had wedding today. 16 year old daughter been wanting to get a job, well she got one today. She was in charge of picking corn. Buddy of mine hauled the corn down to town. She picked about 50 dozen today. She went to bed early tonight. :D
Just not picking have to carry it out, we use a trappers basket I have from years ago or a wagon with a pull handle, pull it out.
We bring so much to town then bring down as needed. inventory control.

I bought sweetcorn yesterday from a stand by the highway. I remember my mom buying sweetcorn there when I was just a little kid. I asked the guy behind the till if he knew what variety it was - in the past they have had Bodacious, Kandy Corn, Honey and Cream, to name a few. He responded: Bi-color.
Half of the ears I bought had had wormy tops, so I had to cut off the top 1-2 inches. Too expensive at $8 a dozen to buy any more from them. At least it was fresh and not overripe like the last stand I bought from. Canned some, froze some, ate some fresh.

Bi color corn, wow, that really narrows it down, eh ?
TOR, I seem to remember a few days ago someone was worried about not having any customers .
brent, I put up lots of these cieling boxes in the past. Never had to predrill screw holes. As a matter of fact , the two replacement screws I used were from one of the old timey boxes. real steel and flat screw driver .

The corn is selling itself and the black truck is not there. Maybe they gave up? Having quite a few repeat customers. The worms are more late season. I have warned customers about the green worms in the fall. They are free extra protein. Sweet corn gets more buggy in later season.
Bodacious is a SE corn and KandyKorn is a HCS corn I believe, what you want is SH2 hybrid if looking for high sugar and longer storage. SH2 hybrids are your supersweets.
Your SE sugar enhanced are more tender kernels with decent sugar they just do not store as long.
There is a newer variety SSW supersweet with more uniform seed and cold seed vigor for early planting, trying to find prices on it all I can find is 20.00 per 1000. Little to much for me.
Yup, WYO I have bought corn from stores and corn trucks years back and can be a roll of the dice. Sometimes its good and other times wished saved the money.

If you go to a corn truck and it is a hot day and the corn is sitting in the sun it is causing the sugar in the corn to turn into starch much faster. If the corn sits in the sun all day after picked it can lose alot of sugar content. Seeing as I take 30 or so dozen to begin then refill I always keep it tarped with heavy tarp.

The neighbor down road has corn on side road and sun sits on it part of the day. Last year I got couple ears it was bodacious. The afternoon hours of hot sun on it wrecked it, had no flavor. It was picked that morning.

I got the light all up and running,
now I decided to put one more fixture in the last corner of the garage.
both of these last two light will be on string switches. I don't need them on every time I go into the garage.
they will come in handy when I am searching through the shelves in the corner.
we are having corn again for lunch.
might as well take advantage of it while it is in season and fresh.

Relatives of mine canned about 30 cans of corn and still have more to pick.
