Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

some of those old tools were ingenious.
when we picked field corn we would carry
a cob in one hand. bend the ear down and whack
it with the cob in our hand. that usually broke it
free without having to twist the ear.
I enjoyed reading your long post. so much
potential in all those tractors. I think I paid 35.oo
for my cultivator. there were two of them, I
should have bought both of them. wow, 600.oo
for one, now.
I have a 1955 Oliver 55. I have way too much
money stuck into it. but it is a good tractor.
Parts are really expensive for this model.
I need a 3pt hydraulic pump, but I cannot
justify almost 4oo.oo for one.
the one I have is weak. but it raises the
back blade and cultivator.
lots of those old discs were loaded down
with concrete blocks back in the day.
I had four of those ground driven potato
diggers. they worked best if you had the front
wheels on. that prevented them from digging
in too deep. I don't have any of them anymore.
I had a couple of potato planters. they worked
very good. but it took two people to run them.
One driver and one tender.
I would like to have a box scraper for
my driveway, the back blade is OK but
it is no good for shaping the driveway
and getting the low spots and humps level.

We have a family friend that we are close to. They have pigs and cows every year they usally get a pick that needs to be took to the butcher and we get the meat out of it for all the work that we do for them.
Nice to get meat or animal from a farm rather than factory farm. Butchering cost have gone up now. I called about 300 now to get pig butchered, was 200 or so before pandemic. Depending of course how much meat a person gets smoked.

The last ham(from pig butchered) i slow cooked in cherry 7up, my wife does not care for ham. She sure ate that up though. Actually pretty good. Got talking to some stranger in the store, talking hams told me that is how he cooks them. really moist.

I like the Oliver 55. nice looking tractors.
I forgot I have a saw rig for 8n also and a 3point cement mixer for 8n I have never tried but going to put on soon.
3 point furrower
A 3 point bar i made for rolling out wire, barb wire
Then have couple the old bolt on pto shaft on belt pulleys
A 3point home made potato hiller i made which never worked as good as it should needs modifications, dont grow potatoes anymore. More junk
Yah the potato digger I have, someone cut the front wheel off. Need to weld a pipe on it, so can put a pipe of inside diameter in the other pipe with swivel wheel on it. Can be done, but im not. Might put it up for sale. I have so much junk. A guy moving down the road gave me the potato digger.
The pump does what you need for three point, i would not fix it, plus you have a front end loader

That guy which bought that cultivator at the auction must had pocket full money. I do notice prices are going up on some of the old equipment.

The older 2 row planter if any good shape with fertilizer are bringing 1000
Mine 2 row planter has extras on it whoever bought it new. i would not sell below 1300 at this point, thats what it would take to replace it i figure.

I have a two row horse corn planter . I put a pole on it and pull it with a tractor. It works very well. but it takes a person to ride on it for when you turn around at the end of the row.
I have a one bottom trailer plow that I never tried using.
I rigged up a hydraulic pump on the front of the Oliver 55 to run the loader. I made 2 reservoir tanks for hyd oil for it.
I have had different tractors on and off.
a Farmal Cub, 2 VAC Case, a Ford 8n, a Farmal A and now this Oliver 55.
I built a cord wood saw with PTO . also had a saw that mounted onto
the Farmal A. Had a V buster/hiller plow for the 8n. had a horse drawn
hay loader .
lots of equipment for just nine acres . lol

I have a lot of equipment for 20 acres and not all that much is tillable. I first started planting sweet corn I did it the hard way. The plow, disc, drag and a earthway push seeder, rototill between the rows. Slowly as sales increased over the years bought more stuff. Some years better than others.

I never used the saw rig, bought for 50, the house ended up burning down, no need to burn wood anymore.

TOR, what is that husker tool supposed to do ?
make it easier to pick the corn ?
what kind of tractor do you have ?
I have a two row 3 pt cultivator that I modify
by moving the spring teeth around. I have never
used it for cultivating. I use it mostly as a drag.
I also have a pair of discs that I mount on it and
use it as a potato hiller.
are your implements 3 pt hitch ? or drag behind.?
lovemychicks, that is a nice arrangements for pork.
TOR, you should get a feeder pig and let him clean
up the corn patch . yeah, a hundred bucks is high for
a feeder pig, though.
Yea it is.
