Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hmmm, I wrote a post a couple of days ago.
it didn't go. Now it seems like I am no longer
a member of byc.
I am not going to write much because it
might just be a waste of time
we got twelve inches of snow to move around..

Hello, I'm in West Central / Northern Wisconsin. We have had a lot of snow here. I just got some chicks. 5 Salmon Favorelle and 5 hybrid layers. Does anyone know what feed to use to sustain the 'flock'? I hear some feeds are not up to snuff. I wonder if I should just buy some grains and mix them at a feed mill. They are on organic chick feed now.

don't get caught up on what you read on line.
to start the chicks out, just get some medicated
crumbles. after you use it all up, you can switch
them over to regular feed.
I do my own thing. I get 50/50 corn/oats..
have it ground at the feed mill.
I have had many people tell me that I was abusing
my chickens with this feed. I just quit conversing
with people on other sites on byc. they can do their
thing and I will do what works for me.
I have already started chicks with the oats/corn.
for laying hens, I bought the laying formula that
the feed mill mixed. I never had a sour batch. It is
usually ground fresh .. not stored for months like
the big box stores..
is there a feed mill near you ?
