Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good for you TOR for a perfect day! I'm just as happy with my hens that are 2 and 3 year old birds. I collected 10 today with prolly 18 hens. My hens are here for life, and I just add new chicks as I see fit. I will need to add a doz or so pullets this year to keep egg numbers up. I prefer 6 or more per day to satisfy the folks I share eggs with.

egg prices have come down in the stores.
I guess gouging prices didn't work out
for the big guys.
the eggs kept coming but people quit
buying..
winter is back for a few days. then 50F temps
for a couple of days..
I am hungry for ribs and kraut. Have to see
what I can do about that..

It's FFF Jim! You will have to have ribs and kraut for Sunday Supper!
My kraut turned out really good this time around. It'a always good, but this batch is award winning.
My hens are really laying well now. I'm ahead 14 doz again.

Stay Safe ... bigz

Hello fellow Wisconsinites!
Very new to the world of chickens - we are just beginning our journey with 22 in the incubator due to hatch on or around April 17th. DH and I purchased an old sheep farm in Rubicon, WI that had basically been left in ruins. The existing coop had caved in on itself so there was no salvaging it so the tear down is almost complete and we are building soon. Finalizing the design and run plans now. Current animals are 1 indoor/outdoor cat (good mouser) and a 14 month old Irish Setter (bird dog). So I researched that incubating and hatching chicks can help her become more of a protector of the chicks/chickens than a chaser. Hoping that works out.
