Japanese beetles took our grapes for 3 years. Until we found soapy water worked. Now we never see any om the grapes!

I am happy to hear this.
I did some research. they lay eggs in July and August
that is when you should put milky spore on the
ground near where they were feeding..

6AM and it just started raining quite hard.
first rain since 11 days. except for a sprinkle on Monday.
I reworked the rain barrels, so they both were empty.
my experimental planter with the three tomatoes
and one basil is impressing me. I have enough tubs
to make two more for next year.

found another place to buy sweet corn. $5.oo/doz
tastes like the honey and pearl we used to grow.
they will give a discount if we buy a large amount.
would like to freeze some off of the cob for winter.

We went and got some sweet corn and then cut it off the cob and froze it this year. I think by time it was done we had 30 8 qt bags full.

Finally got a good soaker today. 1.25" here
Went up to the vegi stand and the corn is 3.50 a doz or a bag of 5 doz for 17.
Might just buy a couple of bags later in the week and freeze it.
I did buy 1 doz to eat now, looking forward to it!

S.E. Wisconsin here, close to 2 " rain, gonna pick my corn in the next day or so for freezing. Expect to freeze 10 dozen.

Hard to say exactly. A friend had some that he could pick all himself so offered some to us as long as we picked it. . So12 dozen or more maybe.

the cheapest we found around here is $5.oo/doz.
one place charges $7.oo/doz. she told my wife there
was no discount on volumn. she said they were selling
it ''dirt cheap'' as it was..
