Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Im to far away.
too far for me too. besides, I don't need anything.
in fact I am selling my chicken plucker and scalding
equipment. anybody need a good chicken plucker
I have it on craigslist for $455.oo. including the scalder.
it rained here this afternoon. looks like more to come.
I graded the granite parking area. the rain should settle
the dust.

Well I went to the show and saw lots of big beautiful birds. Also learned alot, but especially that those beautiful birds were bred to a standard, not like a hatchery bird bred for quantity, which I'm sure mine are.
Anyways I did take a small crate just in case. And I did find my new, Rooster/cockerel.
He's a Salmon Faverolle born earlier this year. Named him Eddie

He is stunning!

I hear you. We have silkies, and mine were all considered backyard silkies, in that they just don't have the big vaults or beards, etc. So after about five years, I sought out a couple quality breeders and got 6 gorgeous chicks this spring. These are now 4-1/2 months old, so next spring, I'll separate a couple of the "pretties" out in a pen and see what happens. I learned about color genetics (easy) so this is going to be fun! Do you have any special plans for Eddie or is he your head honcho of the flock?

Thanks,
Eddie is the sole rooster/cockerel and will stay that way.
She said he has more growing to do.
I told him from the gitgo that he has two choices:
Play nice with the hens or join Henry in the freezer.
We'll see how this goes,
The first afternoon and night he stayed in the crate in the run, with the hens all around him.
The next day I let the hens out into the yard and shut the door to the run on them and let him out into the run, then several hours later I let the hens back into the run, and it went well.
Last night the hens went into roost and Eddie stayed on a roost in the run and I let that happen.
Today he was in the yard(I put him there) and that was fine.
Tonight after dark if he doen't roost with the hens I'll get him and place him on the roost with the them.
