Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Dang TOR, I'm really sorry to hear about the raccoons getting your chickens.
That does remind me that I should set a trap down by the shed. I saw that something opened up the holes under it.
I've caught a family coons out of there before.
I took down a 100 feet of fencing around the trees in back of the chicken coop today.
They never seem to go up there anyways.
They still have a nice big grassy area in front of the coop and run. but for some reason, they stay inside the run instead of going out. Anyways, I haven't quite figured that out.

Must be a comfort zone, my chickens this spring were all over. Suppose new grass and worms. Last month or more they hang close to my barn. Dont go far.

my latest project completed.
100 gallons of rainwater collection system.
am working on a similar system on the other side of the porch.
this system does double duty.
I can water my raised beds of tomatoes and it also
drains the rain water away from the house foundation.

I'd sure be interested in knowing what those 6 poultry forums in Wisconsin are, and the fact that you sell chicks, I might be interested.
I have 12 hens that lay 2 or 3 eggs a day. That's not working out. I think I need to start over. I might have to contact you.

If you're after egg birds, you probably wouldn't want silkies. They're broody half the time. 🤷‍♀️

anyone here goto portage garden daze? never been to it. Have always thought about going.
Shawano Fest or whatever it's called is tomorrow. We're going for the music, but only stay an hour tops.

Thanks, but don't go on FB.
Yeah your right, don't want silkies. I do have a mental list of what I would prefer, so I'll wait and see what I find.

Never been to Garden Daze, but I do have a picture of me on Alvin Straights John Deere.🙂

Just hated to keep the flock locked-up today, but the red fox pair will not leave the birds alone. Two attacks yesterday, one in the woods in front and one in the woods in back. Just too much area to cover for one person, even with the gun at hand and alert and on the watch.
I have a 16ft X 16ft attached pen they can go in, but that's like jail for free range birds. Dang foxes.

Stay Safe ..... bigz

Sorry to hear about your fox problem, but something interesting. The other evening I took Cooper out and I looked down towards the little red barn and saw a Fox trot by and Cooper saw it the same time as me, so he took off after the fox. He came back about 10 minutes later. first time I've seen a fox out and about. Even though I have a active fox den 50 yd up above the coop, so I don't know quite what to think about that.
