Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

is everyone enjoying these nice wisconsin temps as much as i am>?
although i could use a nice rain during the night,.
the puddles in the driveway help me locate the low spots that have to be filled.
the tomatoes are all done. waiting for after a frost to dig the carrots and beets.
will be picking all the peppers soon.
going to try pickling the jalapenos.
You bet I am! Hubby likes fall, and I think most people do.

I still have some tomatoes coming from my sickly tomato plants, and just picked 8 green peppers from two plants. This was the second harvest off the four plants. I cut a few in strips and freeze them for chili in the winter, and make stuffed peppers from the rest.

That's all we did for a garden this year. I missed having the corn but we found a deal and froze some. Plus, shhhhh, but that field of it next to us shouldn't miss three cobs from the corner he usually misses anyway. :gig That was a couple of weeks ago, when it was still good. He actually gives us his seed for us to plant, so when he hits us up in the spring, I'll confess.

The summer like weather is fine by me. Hopefully it will cool off soon and make hunting an option. No way I'm hunting in these temps.
Garden is about done here too. Cut 4 large heads of cabbage for making kraut. I'll keep one for fresh eating though.
Had another Coopers hawk attempt on the free ranging hens yesterday. Lucky they were near cover to dash under and survive the attack.

Stay Safe ... bigz

Summer weather has been nice this time of year. I got my winter fence up for the ducks/geese. Poor babies will not have the run of the 5 acre yard very soon. I will have to see their sad eyes and cries of sorrow soon enough when they aren't let out of the fence in the mornings. :( Honestly, they adjust pretty quick, just sad the first few days.

The fields are bare by us now. Looks like the farmers have a good crop of corn and soy beans this year. Our apple trees are FULL this year. HOLY SMOKES. Almost wish I was domesticated enough to bake. Almost. :lau

Enjoy the warm weather!!!

Renee

the fields are cleaned up around us, too.
now I suppose the coons and skunks will be able to find their way back from the river bottom.
today i will pick the peppers, supposed to freeze tonight. will start cleaning up the raised beds. i have to move them to their winter spot so we can plow snow where they are now.
my oats are well over knee high. no heads on them yet. that's ok, i am going to plow them under anyhow.
haven't seen Upchuck for over a week.
