I got a "weird" egg today. It came from one of my older girls. The yolk was clear with a little chunk of something in it and shell was soft. It looked kinda like a booger.

I did talk pics though.

Looked all over for this thread, finally added it to my subscribed. Have to figure out my page when I get time. HA! Had some very upset girls this AM! They have been sleeping and laying on top of the nest boxes. Tried fencing it off, that didn't work, they started sleeping in the nest boxes and making a mess so now they are back on top of the boxes at night. I noticed that they were starting to lay before dawn so last night I put a timed light set to go on at 5:30. There was one egg as opposed 3-4 but it was laid in a nest instead of on top in the poo. But as soon as I opened the coop @6:15 I was told that this was not right, something was different! Bi*ch was really PO'd but that's normal for her thus the name. They did not like the change..... but I did! Thinking of making some suet balls with bird seed and cracked corn and hang them from the ceiling this winter for energy and amusement for them. Any input would be appreciated! Had a friend from work drop off my winter suppy of straw the other day. He asked where the chickens were? I said oh their here somewhere and I hollered Where's my Babies? Come on Babies and they all came running. He said he'd never seen chickens come when called. I said you've never seen any as spoiled as these. Ca. might have happy cows but Nekoosa has some happy chickens, well except for Bi*ch.

Good Evening....

I'm so glad you're glad! I knew they would come through for you. It's more fun than Christmas, eh. I know the wait can be stressful.

Thanks for the welcome Bigzio! And Good Morning! Up a little earlier than normal, got to watch the light come in the coop and them fly down. I wonder what kind of greeting I'll recieve this morning. Looking forward to the day when I can do it everyday. Planning an early retirement next June, it won't be much but I've lived on a heck of a lot less. At least I'll have eggs, meat, and veggies. And the companionship of my girlfriend and my other 10 girlfriends. That's all I need. Oh Ya and this ashtray and this paddle ball game and... Have a good one!

I was better received this AM except from "B". Surprise! 3 eggs,1 rubber. Putting oyster shell on the shopping list. Second rubber this week. I owe I owe!

Hi BCC, Thanks for the welcome also! I haven't had a shell less one yet that I know of but have had 4 of what I call rubber eggs. It's just like an egg inside of a small balloon. Their pretty weird! Might be fun in the right application. I'll have to think about that. I don't know that I should be that concerned about it. I just tallied up my daily count and including today I've been given 282 eggs since the 7th of Sept. from 10 Golden Comets. That's right I'm braggin! :celebrateTheir such good girls!!!! They were advertised as "Brown" chickens but after perusing this site I saw a pic of GC's and then I knew what they were. I've given away all but what we need only to good people, none to the bad people or Viqueen fans and only the partial cartons to Bears fans. Na just kidding they get them as long as their good people. But I'm adamant about the none to the bad people rule. Hmmm Maybe there is a use for the rubber eggs.
