Good Sunday Evening to Everyone....
Was a busy weekend with the hunting.
Thanks for the kind words towards my daughters pet bigzio....although his eyesight wasen't the best, living here and being adjusted to his surroundings gave him the ability to jump out of the pen, free range daily and have a truely real fun life, the way the flock is ment to be.

The opening weekend of the deer gun hunt is finally over....My younger brother who hasen't shot a deer in over 25 years, finally bagged a trophy fork horn....I hunted hard. Never saw a deer. I still had a great time with my son, daughter, and brother.

Lots of season left. Lots of time to enjoy the woods and the memories it always brings. Prolly why I love to spend so much time there?

Thanks for being grateful for any harvest i could share with you guys. It really makes me happy when I can share with folks that appreciate it!

I'm getting up the light and decorations. It really has improved my mood. And yesterday while I was putting them up, I had on 104.3. They have been playing Christmas music for a while now. Anyway- I heard this most awesome version of the "Night Before Christmas". It was Santa telling the story. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Twas the Night Before Christmas Soldier's Story
TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS,
HE LIVED ALL ALONE,
IN A ONE BEDROOM HOUSE MADE OF
PLASTER AND STONE.

I HAD COME DOWN THE CHIMNEY
WITH PRESENTS TO GIVE,
AND TO SEE JUST WHO
IN THIS HOME DID LIVE.

I LOOKED ALL ABOUT,
A STRANGE SIGHT I DID SEE,
NO TINSEL, NO PRESENTS,
NOT EVEN A TREE.

NO STOCKING BY MANTLE,
JUST BOOTS FILLED WITH SAND,
ON THE WALL HUNG PICTURES
OF FAR DISTANT LANDS.

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,
AWARDS OF ALL KINDS,
A SOBER THOUGHT
CAME THROUGH MY MIND.

FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,
IT WAS DARK AND DREARY,
I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,
ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY.

THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,
SILENT, ALONE,
CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR
IN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME.

THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE,
THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER,
NOT HOW I PICTURED
A UNITED STATES SOLDIER.

WAS THIS THE HERO
OF WHOM I'D JUST READ?
CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,
THE FLOOR FOR A BED?

I REALIZED THE FAMILIES
THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT,
OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS
WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT.

SOON ROUND THE WORLD,
THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY,
AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE
A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY.

THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM
EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR,
BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,
LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE.

I COULDN'T HELP WONDER
HOW MANY LAY ALONE,
ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE
IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME.

THE VERY THOUGHT
BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE,
I DROPPED TO MY KNEES
AND STARTED TO CRY.

THE SOLDIER AWAKENED
AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,
"SANTA DON'T CRY,
THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;

I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,
I DON'T ASK FOR MORE,
MY LIFE IS MY GOD,
MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS."

THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER
AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP,
I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,
I CONTINUED TO WEEP.

I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,
SO SILENT AND STILL
AND WE BOTH SHIVERED
FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL.

I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE
ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT,
THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR
SO WILLING TO FIGHT.

THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,
WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,
WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,
IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE."

ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,
AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,
AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT."

Bigzio Sorry to here about the hunt. Good luck this week.

My dad got a 6 pointer on Sunday and is now going to be here for Turkey day! This will be his 2nd one home that I can remember. Having the whole family down and over. 21 people. Took off of work wed to clean and cook although it doesn't sound much like a vacation. I love it though. This is the best time of year. I am thankful for everything this year. I think this year is so important because so many have suffered this year. Glad for being in the medical field for the security. Hopefully next year will be better for all that have lost work. Hope everyone has a happy and healthy holiday!
PS bigzio when your ready, I'm giving my mother-in-law 3 roos, if you want you could have a little cochin roo? I just can't sell them for fear of them getting eaten and I have 7 and only 11 hens. Bad ratio. Just a thought. Have a good one!

An update on the bus driver, he's fighting the ticket, there's going to be a court case late Dec., can you believe that. and hes still driving, I think that if he loses or pays the ticket hes canned, what he doesn't know is I've been driving for 21yrs so he will have a fight if i get called into court to testify.

Probably the same thing that was wrong with our school that kept a pedophile as a teacher for as long as possible because he was 'good' at what he taught. Thank goodness he is finally gone and teaching at an all boys school so he is out of new dating prospects!

Bigzio; that's what it's all about spending time in the woods or on the water appreciating things that have been put there just for your enjoyment. The meat on the table is just a bonus. And being able to share it is truely a gift that keeps on giving. fordmommy; Thanks for sharing that I don't recall ever seeing it before. Glad the lights have lifted your spirit. I'm thinking tonight that you'll be turning on an outside light to see if the rain is turning white. I too am taking the day off from work[I really feel bad] to start the cooking for Thursday's feast. The weather is looking better for traveling. I have to go let the girls out, I'm late and am sure to hear about it. It'll be fun! I hope all of you have a wonderfull Thanksgiving and enjoy the time with your family's.
