Well, I sure could have used a little LESS snow for this morning....here I sit, ready to take a client to the lab and cant get out to save my life! THe trucks with 4WD are blocked in or not starting...an my van is in the Dells with the kids...sure hope they get back before my 10 AM job!..Terri O excited at the prospect of sitting on BYC for a few hours!!!!

Found a thread in the recent posts about the sex links. One of you good people had told me before about the RIR roo and white rock hen mix. Thought I almost started an argument on the other thread. I got my answer about breeding back my girls with a RIR roo. Didn't care if they were sex link or not just good layers. Now on to find the roo of their dreams. He must be stong, handsome, and a good defender of their honor. See how easily I'm swayed Terry O. OK Bigzio you have to let my ignorance slide here a bit but you know the remedy for ignorance. Knowledge. Are you saying that your 5 year olds are still laying well? I wouldn't expect that they lay too often. From what I've read on the sex link they burn out after 2 years. Which I'm tempted to believe. But even if we got an egg every few days oh what am I saying I'd have to have someone else take them somewhere to butcher them. Think they'll be here a long while. Yes I too look at the some of the fancy breeds and think those would be really cool. But I rein myself in, for now. Now I'm all aquiver about a roo. I made my first $2.00 today from the eggs. Unwillingly! I took a doz. and a half to a guy a work he has 4 out of 5 daughters still at home. I put them on his toolbox and told him not to forget them. In the afternoon he asked if I had change for a $5 I said no, then he said he wanted to pay me for the eggs. I said no way their all free until I retire then you can pay $1.50 and you have to come and get them unless you call then I'll drop them off in your truck when I make a town run cause I really don't want to walk back in this place. About an hour later he came back and threw 2 bucks on the bench and walked away. I hollered I'm not takin it, it's gonna lay right there. I took it and found his eggs and put it inside the carton. When I got home I opened my lunch box and there it was. It's on now! I'll get even and I will win!

Dr Ha Ha, I can make your dream come true! I have a beautiful roo for you. My sex link cockeral was accidental. I didn't want any roos. But they said pick the chickens you like and I did. I got him just because of the coloring. I called him Peaches and Cream thinking that he was a she. But now it's just Peaches. I don't want to cull him just because he's a he. That's why he's still with me. I did have 2 cockerals. But my cousin took the EE. That was Captain Jack Sparrow and he is gorgous too.

Peaches is a well behaved young cockeral. Hatched some time in May. Takes good care of the girls. But I think they would be just fine without him. I don't want to hatch any eggs so.....what's the point. I would love to give him to you for say $5. But you'd have to make the trip to Waupaca. Or at least half way.

He really is a good boy. I pick him up and pet him often. And good with my boys and the dogs. He services all my girls. I have checked, and all my eggs are fertile.

This is the 2 cockerals. The EE is on the left. He went to my cousin. And Peaches is on the right. He has a lot more orange on him now. His whole front of his chest is orange now.

Oh! And I forgot to tell you all. I sold my first eggs this week too! I just ask for donations and let them choose.

First my dentist's assistant took 3 doz and gave me $3.00 for each. Then the other dentist's assistant wanted 2 doz and she gave $2.50 a doz. I told her I would probably have enough on Friday, but the girls are laying so well, had enoughto give her them today. ( I got 12 eggs today) Then as I was walking out the door from dropping off the second lady's eggs, ANOTHER lady said that she would like 2 doz a week and will pay me $3.00 a doz and has already paid me for the first eggs that I will be delivering on Monday.

It will help pay for the feed. What would I do with all those eggs? I have been giving them to family so far.

Up way too early again. I've been down this road before, it's not fun. fordmommy first you get a scolding. Bad Naughty fordmommy! There. It sounds to me that Peaches would be the perfect addition to the family. The girls were born on the 13th of May so they would be the same age. He has the right demeanor for my liking. Nothing I like better than to be able to pick up a bird and have a talk. Well maybe there's a few others. The timing is good with the warmer weather coming next week so they can get out and stretch their wings. I'm thinking with the girls being bread they might become more broody. The only problem I foresee is "B" she is the acting roo. She's not going to be happy but she never is, at least thats the front she puts on. I don't think she will give up her throne easily. Lady you have yourself a deal! I promise you that he will be well taken care of and will be just as spoiled as the girls. I'll PM you to work out the details.

fordmommy; Just checked my messages the PM I sent you isn't showing up. Did it go through? If not here's the short version. We could meet at the gas station by the Expo center. I'd like to do this in the AM to give the them some daylight hours to get aquainted. Maybe I'll host a catillion. [Spelling?]. Sat. Sun. or Mon. would work for me this weekend but whatever works for you is good too. I know your busy with the family and all so it's up to you. Weekends are best for me and it would give me time to keep an eye on them. We'd be in a silver Jeep Patriot so if you want to set a time that would be great. I'm a man of my word. He will be well cared for. He'll be the King. It's good to be da King!

fordmommy; didn't know about the paying side sorry I freaked. Hope to see you and yourin and Peaches at the designated time and place. I'm so excited! Cleaned out the drive and went in and had a long visit with the girls. They seemed to have a mixed reaction to the news but I'm sure once they lay eyes on him they will change their minds. I had an especially long talk with B she took it better than I thought she would. Think maybe a boyfriend is what she has wanted all along. As far as putting a face to a name . I'll apologize in advance. Used to be 6' brown hair, brown/gray beard and a black John Prine ball cap. Laura has red hair. As excited as I am it just came to me. I hope that you and the fam won't feel a loss. You all can visit anytime and I most certainly will keep you updated with his situation. I know that he will be a happy boy. See you soon!
