When I had my kitties, I just asked them if they wanted to go for a ride and they'd jump in. They knew that they would also get to go to Taco Bell.
I had Taco Bell in Mukwonago, Wi trained to give out cat treats and dog treats. (That was all before I had Kids
) But seriously. My cats loved car rides.
Things are okay here today. Some squabling going on. Nothing too serious. Everyone has a place to run to get away if needed. There is a new issue with my RSL. Today when sitting on the eggs, she grawled her high pitched squeal at the other chickens when she thought that the were going near her. She's NEVER done that squeal before. But when I would stick my head in there by her, she would be fine and just coo her little bock bock like a little purr. As to say, "Look ma! I just don't want anyone taking my eggs."
I know they still kinda remember what happened. And maybe she was IN the nesting box at the time. Poor mama.
So I just stayed in there with her and she was fine. And her "sister" 'Big Bertha', who's actually a BA, came up there and she was fine with that. (I say "sister" because they have been together since hatching. The ALWAYS sleep next to eachother. It was a pack, hatched together. Red, Big, Honey, and Biddy were always next to eachother on the perch. And Big has been all nervous since.) So when she was up there, I was petting Big under her belly and talking softly to her. That calms her down. I used to do that for her just before she would lay. She was the first to lay and no one there to show her what to do. She would go crazy just before it was time. Couldn't sit still so I started doing that, and like magic, she would calm down and have her egg.
So Red had her egg today. I got 3 today. Only 2 yesterday. It's sad going from a doz to just a few over night.
We'll see what happens. Out of my girls I could potentially get 7 eggs a day. And some of the Black Ameraucanas are supposed to be laying right now. Maybe I will be able to fill orders soon. Maybe even in a couple weeks.
I just wish it never happened.
