Good Morning! I have a full day planned as always. I E mailed my cousins husband back and told him that I would darken his doorstep one day to go fishin with him and asked if he needed any eggs? He wrote back. YES...YES and a pie er I mean pies! I guess my pies have become now known through out the continental US.

Got 3 eggs so far waiting for the rest. We'll see how it goes but have only gotten 9 for the last 2 days. Still pretty good! I've noticed they've backed off on the water consumption this last week too. Bob [my cat] gets to take a ride to the community center this morning. He's due for his rabies shot. I now go there instead of hauling him to our vet. $9 as opposed to $50. Same vet. I'm sure he gets paid by the township but knowing him somewhat personally I wouldn't doubt that it's a volunteer thing. I left the porta puss in the Jeep so wouldn't have dig it out. Bob knows when it comes out what is about to happen. He's a schmarty guy! When I bring it in the house I'll have to hold onto the metal door so it doesn't rattle, he knows the noise it makes. I have my puter desk set up by the back window. It's a perfect set up I can see the coop and the chillins. Nice view!

When I had my kitties, I just asked them if they wanted to go for a ride and they'd jump in. They knew that they would also get to go to Taco Bell.

I had Taco Bell in Mukwonago, Wi trained to give out cat treats and dog treats. (That was all before I had Kids

) But seriously. My cats loved car rides.

Things are okay here today. Some squabling going on. Nothing too serious. Everyone has a place to run to get away if needed. There is a new issue with my RSL. Today when sitting on the eggs, she grawled her high pitched squeal at the other chickens when she thought that the were going near her. She's NEVER done that squeal before. But when I would stick my head in there by her, she would be fine and just coo her little bock bock like a little purr. As to say, "Look ma! I just don't want anyone taking my eggs."

I know they still kinda remember what happened. And maybe she was IN the nesting box at the time. Poor mama.

So I just stayed in there with her and she was fine. And her "sister" 'Big Bertha', who's actually a BA, came up there and she was fine with that. (I say "sister" because they have been together since hatching. The ALWAYS sleep next to eachother. It was a pack, hatched together. Red, Big, Honey, and Biddy were always next to eachother on the perch. And Big has been all nervous since.) So when she was up there, I was petting Big under her belly and talking softly to her. That calms her down. I used to do that for her just before she would lay. She was the first to lay and no one there to show her what to do. She would go crazy just before it was time. Couldn't sit still so I started doing that, and like magic, she would calm down and have her egg.

So Red had her egg today. I got 3 today. Only 2 yesterday. It's sad going from a doz to just a few over night.

We'll see what happens. Out of my girls I could potentially get 7 eggs a day. And some of the Black Ameraucanas are supposed to be laying right now. Maybe I will be able to fill orders soon. Maybe even in a couple weeks.

I just wish it never happened.

OK, would there be anyone interested in Black Copper Maren chicks, i'm putting all laid eggs from them in the incubator, so unless my roo in 'shooting blanks' I should have a good number of chicks, i do not want to ship or take them to Amherst, soooo?? Plus I'm also putting BCM (roo)X cuckoo(hen) in, only the darkest eggs. according to a color chart I should be able to sex at hatch.

Fordmommy....I wanted to extend my sympathy to you over your disaster the other day! So sad! I had a dog get into my coop one summer--only got one at the same time the owner was saying, "oh, he doesnt kill chickens...." I kicked that dog right in the A&$ and told that guy to, "GET OUT!" I think ANY dog will go for a chicken if it decides to run at the wrong moment (or if they are just a killer) I am glad you got some new birdies and I hope they turn out to be as personable as your other ones!

I noticed that you used to take your cats to the drive thru...I used to do that too! (I grew up in West Allis) One time we were driving back from vacation and folks on the freeway kept laughing and pointing at our car. Then we realized that our cat was laying on top of the sleeping bag in the back window under the "attack cat on board" sign! (yes he went camping with us too!) Did we ever have a laugh over that! I still miss that cat!

Do the WI people on this board ever have "meet and greets?" I would just love to meet some of the folks that are on here...like a picnic type thing? Just wonderin'? Terri O near Madison
