Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I think someone posted about the white elephant thinking that it would be an auction to pay for the day. A white elephant gift exchange is just like christmas.

An auction to pay for the day would be reasonable too. If ya would do an auction I could do a $25.00 Purely Poultry gift card.

Would any one like to take a look at the poultry books I carry? If there is interest I could set up a table with my books. If ya don't think so thats okay too.

Tyler, that's a great idea you setting up a table. I was going to suggest it.

I have table clothes we can put down too. I hate just eating off outside picnic tables. All the animals that run across them.

Will do. Eventually we should put altogether on one document an invitation type thing. Because I just realized I don't even remember the date.

As far as attendance my wife and 9 month old son will also be attending.

June 12th. Second Saturday in June. Hartman Creek State Park.

Is there somewhere we can put this?

I think only mods can do stickys. Well-there will be enough buzz about it. We won't let anyone forget about it.

I would reccomend editing the first post of the forum. If you just go to page 1 and edit what you put there to be the details of the event that would be good. And we can refer to that as the Invite. We can also link to it This is a link to fordmommy's post if that is where we will do it. Here is a link to it. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=2904038#p2904038

Some
of you might consider doing a signature link to the invite post.

Connie, We're having the party like a potluck. Bring a dish and your own drinks.

I'm thinking that what we should do is everyone bring a "hot" dish AND a "cold". What I mean by this is....

"hot" dish....to be cooked on a grill or in a cassorole dish....sandwhiches.....a main dish of somesort...really doesn't have to be hot as long as it's concidered a main dish.

and

"cold" dish....salad, dessert, noodles....side dish of somesort.

This way we all the bases are covered. You know thtere's going to be a ton of food.

I'm going to add the invite to the bottom of my posts. If anyone else cares to do so....feel free. That way, where ever I post, people can see it. I think I will also add to my first "cheesehead" post like Tyler suggested. That way newbies see it right away too. Great idea.

Good Afternoon.

I'm sure you have plenty of Winter up your way. I hear the sidewalks and paths get pretty narrow from all the snow you guys get up there.

I just have to put in another plug for the Backyard Poultry Magazine. My new Feb/Mar issue just arrived and like usual it's hard to put down. One would think you can get enough chicken stuff here, but that's just not the case. There is so much more good stuff in each issue, that I have every issue and won't ever let the subscription expire!

I just read a article about the World's largest provider of layer chicks to the commercial egg producers. The male chicks are surplus. If you can believe this, they dispose of 150,000 male chicks daily. The video is appalling. I can't post it here, however I can pm you if you want the link. It's quite upsetting. They are under investigation. This is a moral issue that really bothers me and I had to share.

This is why our backyard flocks make so much sense. We really care about our flocks!

I posted in the meet and greet link; if you would like to add who is going to be at the event on that post it would be helpful. Also adding it to your sig line as well.

Tyler, I think it would be great if you brought some of your info on your hatchery. A lot of folks in the state do not know who you are, where you are located, and what you sell.

Finally finished with clinicals!!
