Over 5" of snow already and it's not even noon. They might be right about snow totals over a foot, given radar images I'm looking at. Well, a good time to sit back and start on my coop design. I've got my brooder already done and I'll be getting chicks mid-March. so I've got to get the coop built and the run set up by the end of April. I've been scrounging for wood, putting the word out to my carpenter/builder buddies. I think I've located a sizeable cache of wood and some shingles, so I'm moving right along. I'll post my design when I'm done for some constructive criticism. Everyone stay safe today!

Man I have a buttload of snow to move out of the drive before I can go to work today! More on the way too...I hope the snowblower can start and I can figure out how to work the thing. Ya know, I love when my dh is working out of town for the week; but it always seems to snow when he is gone, or a pipe breake, or the well stops pumping, or the truck....you get the picture I am sure! It sure is nice and quiet though

Yeah fordmommy I remember alittle snow dance you did not to long ago! You can have all of it.
We have about 5 here and still coming and of course we will get the lake effect snow later on too?! I live in dodge county how does that work?!! Why is it we always get dumped on with everything? Ok done with my rant. sorry. I want spring here. All though the snow days with the kids have been nice. Today we are making donut holes and I think my youngest(who turned 3 yesterday) has eaten about a dozen.

I'm going to try to go to the swap at the end of the month. Don't know for sure yet but Terri O if you go let me know and maybe we can meet up. Have a safe day everyone! Hopefully the sun will be out tomorrow!

We(my 4 year old and I) have been watching it snow all day so far, his brother and sister went to school today but he wasn't feeling good this morning so didn't go to am 4k.

The girls came out of the coop once the snow was removed from their run-they like to be out and about(of course they have an enclosed run).

Not sure how much has fallen since my dh left this morning to plow snow, takes him about 6 hours to do the route and then he'll go back out again tonight once it stops.

making donut holes sounds like fun! paperwork for me today....

Regarding the Jefferson swap.... Is it mostly pigeons? Or are there a fair amount of chickens as well?

Well I sure hope there are at least SOME chickens! I have it on my calendar and plan to go. Fun to look even if I wont be buying and pigeons yet. (I think) I checked out the old pic we have of the farm in '64 and sure enough...the top of the coop was for pigeons! I can see their in hole and there are still nests and stuff in the rafters of the building. I dont think I want to have them way up there though...I need to build a new thing--Terri O--thinking about canceling all appts. for tomorrow!

Howdy danamillette! And WELCOME! I'm upset again. Went to pick up my fresh unfrozen pig hind qtrs and lard for a guy to make me some ring balogna and pork sausage. The rest of the pig was ready for pick up, bacon and hocks later this week. Found my fresh not frozen lard but no hind qtrs. Oh their they are in the smoker. So no really great bologna for Bonzo. They looked at the order and sure enough it wasn't supposed to go in there. What are you gonna do? They were very apologetic and I told them not to worry about there will be more pigs. I was just looking forward to this balogna. WAAAA! Here's one that an army buddy sent me today. Stop me if you've heard it before. Marry a Wi. Woman! The first man married a woman from Ohio. He told her he wanted the house kept clean, the dishes done and a hot meal on the table at night. The first night nothing had changed but on the second night all was done as he had asked. Another man married a girl from Texas. He also told her he expected the house to be kept clean, the dishes done and put away and a hot meal on the table every night. No changes on the first 2 day but on the third all was done as he had asked. The third man married a gal from Wi. He told her that he wanted the house kept clean, the dishes done, a hot meal on the table for every meal, the lawn mowed, and the laundry done. He didn't see any change for the first 2 days but on the third day the swelling in his left eye had gone down a little and his arm was working well enough to make himself a sandwich and load the dishwasher. But he still has trouble urinating.
