Evening to all....wow it's hard to believe the week-end is almost over!

Way to go babylady and fordmommy with your quick action to remedy the cracked eggs! I hope they turn out fine.....sounds like things are looking good.

H&R It's good to hear that the first batch of syrup went well. How many batches do you do? We have many large mature sugar maples here on the hill. We never did the syrup thing though. I like the turkey cooker idea.

Planning for my youngest daughters birthday party this friday. Decided to have it here instead of going out. We can throw one heck of a party here for $150. Sodas, mixers, good beer, and quite a long food menu...crab salad, 7 layer salad, prolly lasagne with tons of meat , lbs of cheese, and ho made garlic bread. For desert it's a frozen ice cream cake with raspberry from stone cold creamery in stevens point. My baby is going to be 26...

sounds like everyone had a nice weekend ... sun is out this am no school today end of tri teachers need to get grades done .....
have ??? for all of you .. why would my 2 male ducks pick on my roo... i am hoping it is because i have not let them free range all
winter wanted to keep them safe ... think i willl let them out today as it willl be nice out close to 50 today ...
hoping to get my bator finished today and test run it over night to make sure it works well found my termastate yesterday at fleet
went in to a small town near me to look for one and the fella just laughed when i said i would not pay 25 bucks for one when i can get it
for less than 8 .. he said not anymore you cant .. welll proved him wrong fleet had it for 7.89 ..... why do small towns have to jack prices so high
ok done with my soap box

Sounds fun Bigz! I always like to do the parties here at home too...way cheaper and more fun. Dont let my kids see that you are still throwing them parties at 26 though! My oldest just turned 24 and we just did cake with the family. Same for the youngest two. I stopped the party thing around 16 or 17 I think. I was getting tired of all those teenagers staying over!
Well I did another kind of cleaning for a few hours yesterday....5 big buckets of dog poo off the yard! I sure wanted to get to that before it got warmer and started stinkin'! I was figuring as I was scooping, 6 dogs at 2 a day times 30 times 4 months....something like 1400 piles of poop. I dont think I found them all....

Well, it's back to "work" today...glad it's just a half day; I had a rotten night's sleep! THe geese were honking all night it seemed. I found some of their eggs and a duck egg too. I fenced them in better so hopefully they will stay off the road.
Drive safely and carefully today...sure is foggy! Terri O

I got to meet BCC yesterday! My neighbor friend needed a roo for her girls, and Paula had the most adorable little blue/lav bantam Cochin. He's the sweetest little thing. And my friend ended up with an extra Polish roo, too, nice boy. My friend's hens were kinda looking at the Pol as if to say, dude, what's up with your head?

As of last night the cochin is already carrying out his roosterly duties

It was great to see all of Paula's flocks, we both thoroughly enjoyed the visit. Hoping to see her and many others at the Bash in June!

Can I say it is most definitely MONDAY!!!! UGH!

Neighbors starving dogs (that nobody wants to do anything about

) escaped and got into my trash while I was out shopping.... I clean it up and lo the perpetrator shows up! I call the city to get the dog at appx. 12:10..... you think the police have gotten the dog YET? HECK NO! It is still roaming around looking for more trash cans to get into..... if I could I would shoot the dogs to put them out of their misery. Cooped up all day long in a teeny tiny pen with minimal food and water. Occasionally a kid will come by and bash at the chain link and sream swear words at the dogs..... they would be very nice dogs if somebody would just love them and train them. They are so skinny I could see the entire skeleton of the dog that was out through his black fur......

Now the neighbors who hate up and who put up the dang fence along the driveway to keep our driveway snow out of their yard, have decided to paint the trim around their windows the EXACT SAME shade of red as their door. (Fordmommy and I have decided it should be call-girl red...) I should really be able to sell my house now! One house is bright mustard yellow on one side and the other one has the ketchup trim!

The only good thing about today is the weather! I can't even enjoy that because I have to go to work!

[Hens and Roos]

Sure is a shame when people don't take care of their animals, we get foster dogs in from time to time that haven't been taken care of and they trun out to be very nice dogs.

We will collect sap until the buds start coming out so we get about 3 little batches last year we ended up with a total of 58 half pints so we will see if we get close this year! Yes the turkey fryer burner works great, the new one we purchased this year seems to cook faster so less time to get the sap boiled to syrup.

Mondays always seem crazy, I went and picked up the turkeys that we ordered so that our daughter can show them at fair this year. Ended up with 4 BBW and 5 BBB(they gave us an extra) so now I have 3 separate brooders going because the 3 bantam chicks were getting picked on by the Andalusian chicks when we tried to group them together My youngest DS, the 4 year old now thinks that he has 9 turkeys as well as the 3 bantam chicks! Should be interesting when Terry O's chicks start hatching!!

We're down to 4 foster puppies as the 5th one left this morning for her new home.

Guess it's time to go check the new arrives and make sure they are okay.

Good evening! I am having my "popcorn supper" since both daughters decided to go to the movies tonight and leave me home ALONE! I was going to make venison steak, fried potatoes with peppers, a veggie and pound cake with raspberries for desert...if you havent checked out the recipe part of the forum, you'd better do it! Great reading! So here I sit with 5 cats on my lap, eating popcorn and reading on the puter! Oh well, things could be worse...I could still be picking up dog poop, chasing the neighbors starving dogs or trying to convince my 4 YO that the turkeys arent HIS...but no, I will eat my popcorn in peace thank you very much! My house is quiet----AAHHHHH!
Today I found out that I have ONE female guinea hen and THREE males! Yeah, I guess I had the sounds mixed up...need to fix that! The female says "fe-MALE" and the male says "male" now I've got it!

I have one hen who has decided to be feral. She would not go back in the coop for love or scratch tonight! She was out during the weekend and I think she might have a nest going somewhere in the hay loft. I am down quite a few eggs lately so I suspect that a few have taken a hiding place to "make babies!" On the other hand my little gray chickens have all decided they want to sit so I gave them 10 eggs a piece today...better to turn them in to chicks than to let them rot in the fridge I say! Talk to me later about my feed bill...but summer is coming right!?
Well, I think I will see if there is a movie to interest me... can only watch "sappy" ones when the kids are gone....have a great night! Terri O
