Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

if you want to meet at fondy, there is a snack bar, on the left side of the building same side as the doors, it would be a good place its the quietest place in the building

I'm there! We will be leaving here at 7. It's about a 30 min drive for me all highway. Don't know what I'm wearing yet but BCC I'll let you know. I'm so excited to go and see and met! i can't wait. I asked my mother in-law if she wanted to come, she said that she would, but then I told her that I'm leaving at 7(she lives 35 mins south of me) she said she would have to get back to me.

I proceeded to tease her and say that maybe she's not that dedicated to her chickens?!

DH said that I can't buy anything, but then again he won't be there to stop me either. Finally he just told me to that I could only bring home 2 or 3. He's such a good man. Anyone else going?
It was foggy here this morning too and Terri O I have some beautiful pictures of fog frost from Jan when we had that thaw. Although we have completely different weather here at times. It could be sunny all over the state and we would have rain. Someday we would like to move out to southwestern wi. Maybe when the kids are gone. Great job fordmommy on the spring dance! It's working! Well have a wonderful day everyone!! Stay dry for the rains a coming!

I'm thinking about going. I have a friend from Manawa that might be going too. We'll see. I asked my DH if he minded if I go. He asked me if I had money to go.

I told him that didn't matter. I just hate getting up that early. AND that's the day that the babies should hatch at BL4's.

You were right! It is raining! Just what we need....more MUD! It seems I can barely get down to the barn on my feet these days...I am either slipping in mud or on ice. At least the ice will be gone soon...

One of my banties kicked out 2 eggs from the nest box today sometime. I wonder what that was about? I put them back in and I will have to see if she has them out again tonight. Never had one do that until they "knew" for sure they were rotten. Cant see how she could know already!
Going to try for the venison again tonight--no idea how many people will actually be here but it is thawed so it must be eaten. Well, gotta go and get osmething done in this house before I run out of energy! Later--Terri O

What I believe you are seeing is called hoar frost, sounds the same spelled different. Might hear some bad things tomorrow. 2 ambulances went tearing across the bridge and then when I got home the Spirit of Marshfield was flying back from that direction. Not a good sign, it was about the time the buses were running. The kids have torn up every open patch of ground. They'll be glad to see the snow go. Last night I went to the back door and called them for treats and they would only come as far as the open ground.

Well we are on day 20 for Blue and she is still going strong sitting on the 7 eggs-maybe tomorrow morning we will have some pips starting! Was able to look at the eggs when she got off for water and food and didn't see any moving.

Friday(3/12) is lockdown for the 16 in the incubator, that will be interesting to watch those as well.

We'll give more updates on the eggs!

I got mine here under the broody hatching Thursday. And the bator at Babylady4's hatching Saturday too.

For you and

Luck to you too fordmommy:fl

I have already explained to the kids that these aren't our chicks and they will be going home. I will probably have this talk several times with the 4 year old:he. He still tells his brother and sister that the 9 turkeys are his but he'll let them hold them!!

It will be interesting to watch Blue with chicks-she may be very protective given how she doesn't like us messing with the eggs! A friend told me we could always switch the baby turkeys for the baby chicks and let her raise those- can you picture 9 turkey babies trying to hide under a bantam!!

My 4yr is very much looking forward to his new chickens. The ones at Babylady4's are his "Minerva Louise" chicks. So we are happy to have them born.....FINALLY!

Good Evening....the time has really flown by for us on the sidelines waiting to hear and see the results of all the eggs being set. It's amazing that this week end will be providing peeps for some of the cheeseheads already. Might seem like eternity for you guys....but.... us on the sidelines want pics of peeps!

Busy week end here with the B day Friday and the grandkids here for 3 days with my other daughter....so I can't make Fondy. Besides I still need to build another coop for the 40 peeps I have ordered already!

Jim sent some pics to me of his royal palm turkeys strutting today....nice looking birds for sure.

Hope you are right about the snow leaving soon fordmommy...I have a ton of stuff to do outside when it's gone for good!

Enjoy the venison Terri O....No better red meat, than good ol venzun!

Hello Wisconsin folks. We are all bird lovers and share a lot with one another. Here at back to basics we are for the most part self-sufficient, to make a long story short I was wondering if any one knows the Wisconsin cheese making recipe. I would like to make some cheese like they do in Wisconsin. I was their many years ago and I was impressed. Thanks Joe
