That is SO EXCITING! I just love going in the coop and hearing that noise! Will be about 2 and a half weeks yet for me....but hopefully I will have babies from H&R to enjoy in the mean time. Set that last banty last night--I got sick of her stealing the nest from the other one so now she has her own. I have so many eggs that I dont know what to do with them! Really need to get some pigs! (or some customers!) Last week I took 8 doz and gave them to the people at the bank! Maybe I could pay some bills with them?
I just read the whole cheeseheads thread from the beginning this morning...raining and I am procrastinating about going outside. I feel like I know you guys even better now--like old friends! I was hoping for a nice sunny day to drive to Milw. Oh well, at least I wont be wasting it in the car!Making some pot roast in the slow cooker for tonight. MMMM--good rainy day food. The venison was just OK last night. I think I broiled it a tad long and it was from out "dill freezer" so it tasted like dill. NOte to all of you...if you pick dill from the garden and want to save it until the pickles are ready to can; be sure to wrap it REALLY WELL before you put it in the freezer! Unless you like the flavor of dill permeating into everything!!! Guess I should have just hung it and dried it! The funny thing is, the cukes never really produced last year so I hardly used any of that dill! Joke's on my I guess--so much for being prepared. I think there is a saying somewhere...don't count your chickens......?
Off to the feed mill for me! I am out of corn and my geese are MAD! They are out enjoying the tender greens coming in the rain but every time I let the dogs out they yell for me to get their corn down there! Better get on with it--rain or no rain....YUK--I hate rain...and mud! I need to find a solution.....anyone?
Have a great/wet day! Terri O
