Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

So, myself, BL4, and Tyler are going to Weyauwega this weeekend. And possibly BCC if she's back in time from Florida. Anyone else? The swap is Saturday, 6AM. $2 per person. At the Fairgrounds which is super easy to find.

We are feeding them Medicated Chick starter from Fleet Farm. Something like 11.75 a 50 lb bag. You ask if it is a big bag, I will be selling gallon bags of it at Wega this weekend. I have never heard of feeding peanuts to chickens before.

We got a cheap thermometer and it has been reading 110 in the tank but the chicks are comfortable. I am thinking the theromometer is wrong.

oh i may actually be able to come will have to bring the lil ones with but i think they would like it ... hope it does not rain like they are saying it is going to this weekend would like 70's still

My kids used to LOVE getting the shell less ones! They would bounce them around until they broke (only happened once in the house

to the newbies! Sure hopw I get to meet all of you in June. I spent a bunch of the day looking for that Tricide-Neo that is supposed to be a non-invasive cure for bumblefoot...no luck. I am thinking about ordering it on line. To bad they are not in a good mood like Tyler and offering free shipping! That would be so nice.
I wanted to burn the pasture today since we have a south wind--NO WAY! It would get started and jump right from the grass to the barn to the house I believe. We have some really vicious wind out there!
I will be back later...so much to do while it is light...just had to come and send an email; and of course check in with my "peeps!" Glad you are ll doing well---gonna crack one open and check on the chicks! Terri O

Early Evening hellow To All..... Busy fun and windy day here too!

I transplanted a big lilac and highbush cranberry today from our front garden. Oh My, when the hens saw I had a shovel in my hand they KNOW it means worms...

I had to go and turn a bunch of shovels for them to level...the big crawlers just disappear down their hatch.

I'm proud of the old 5 year old hens. Laying two a day now.

Welcome flyweed....you are amoung great company.

Stay focused on the fridge...time for a cool one, eh!

Been busy outside today. Raked out the back yard flower beds and most of the lawn. That's the part that sucks about living in the pines. TONS of pine needles and sticks and bark. It seems that you can rake one day and the next it's back to needles.

BUT....I wouldn't change living in the pines for that. I love living amongest them. The smell on a hot summers day.

Mmmmmm! My fav! Brings me back to my childhood.

Bigzio, I know what you mean when the girls see that shovel. My girls too want to help dig.

But now I feel all buggy.

I always worry about them darn deerticks.

I spent the day out in the woods next to the house today, chainsaw in hand, and I am TIRED tonight! The previous owners let the grounds and woods go all to hell so there is a ton of work to do, but I got a chunk of it done today. Plenty of wood for the fire pit this summer. Y'all come by and we'll down some cold ones, get a fire going and do some BBQing...!

I've decided to use the back of one of the barns as a coop and there is a huge area where they used to keep some of the hogs, it will work for the coop perfectly and I'll be able to use the materials I have without having to purchase anything else. Plus, I've got room for LOTS more birds. Hmmmmm. Mom isn't too excited and wants me to go slow. I've only got 12 birds right now and I'm thinking about just another 12...whats wrong with that?

I can pick up some nice SLW and americauanas right up the street...so can anyone talk me out of getting some more birds????

BBCB know all about buying a place and finding the last owner was less than ambitious. They thought it was OK to just to dump their refuse along the edge of the yard. Instead of making one pile of junk it's spread out the length of the yard [big yard] inside the wood line don't know if I'll ever get it all. If you've got the room then why not more birds? Scored 3 small tray feeders, 2-2gal gravity feeders, and a 2 gal waterer. The run posts are 2 by 2 angle iron made for fencing. Small slots every 2 " for attaching wire. The wire is 1 1/2" chicken wire and is shot. But will find a use for the angle iron. Tonight going to BFF's to pick up the tiller for repair and pull a point, he's giving me all the pipe and points from 2 wells. More good stuff! Think the garden will once again increase in size. Will more than likely go to te Kellner swap. If I find some SLW's then I'll get a few otherwise it'll be Peaches babies. I've got the kids raking my yard they still aren't listening to my instructions of putting it in a pile. Guess it'll get mulched with the mower. Have to drag it to knock down the mole hills the battery is charged and ready for installation in the mower. I use an old metal mattress box spring with some weight on it to drag, works great! Enjoy you day!
