Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Okay, here is what I am starting out with coop wise. It's at the southeast end of the old barn, and this farm was homesteaded in 1842, so who knows how old the foundation is...but I'm going to have fun with it, so bear with me, these are the "before" pics...

Whew...

BBCB I love old barns and farm houses, OK any barn. Good thing your not my nieghbor that way I can covet you. I'd gladly come over and till up a garden if you were closer. If mom has caught the bug then your in deep doo doo. Give her a chick to hold on to that'll cinch the deal. Didn't make any wood last year and haven't had much back problems but that's going to change real shortly. Have learned to start out slow and get back in shape before going gonzo. Dad gave me a back brace belt years ago and found that it really helps. but back pain is inherent with the job. I was sitting at the picnic table at the end of the day watching chicken TV and having a talk with them and was visually measuring the garden. It's 20 by 20 think I'm going to add 10 more feet to one end. Could believe it when L told me that were out of japalpino's. That's just wrong! PS like the flip flops!

Think I have all the needed documents to file my retirement papers. That's this mornings project. Will feel a whole lot better when their in the mail. Can't help but have that nagging question of am I doing the right thing? Guess I'll know in 2 weeks. Enjoy the day!

All I need to do now is have my signature notarized and look it over one more time. Then it's CHECK'S IN THE MAIL!!!!!! Been outside can smell the rain already. That'll bring on a tick hatch. Was going around the house opening windows the first was the bathroom window, startled a hen. Peaches came running up immediately in defense. It blows me away how good he is. Need to hit some rummage sales to get some T posts for the expanded garden fence. Gonna go drag the yard. Then? Anyone out there have an open 14' deep V fishing boat for sale? I have a trailer and motor but would consider other options. Fish On! Blow up your TV, eat a lot of peaches, move the country......

Went out last night with a girl friend. She had free tickets to a comedy club in Appleton. The Headliner was not that funny, but the guy before him was. Good time.

I wish today was as nice as yesterday. Now it's cloudy here and only 64*. Hope it gets better!!!

Gonna' work on that coop again. I did get the linoleum. But it wasn't free.

It was only $16.00 though!

Good deal! I couldn't even find that deal on Craigslist. And it's really thick.

So- for all of yous that are going to Wegauwega tomorrow that haven't met me, I again, am going to be wearing my black jacket with the purple liner and white zipper.

Enjoy the day!

Apparently the only place where the correct information can be found is the Buyer's Guide.....

The Wega swap is from 6 AM to 11 AM and is at the Waupaca County Fairgrounds. The cost is $2 per adult. It is put on by the Fox Valley Rabbit Club and it is the Poultry/Small Animal swap. Kids under 12 are free. Contact Dennis at 715-467-2272 for more information.

I hope this helps!

I'll put a big sticker on my back that says Mother Goose. That way all you BYC's can find me. I'll be with my oldest DD and try to find Fordmommy as well. I'll be wearing a evergreen coat that has the Waupaca Foundry emblem on the front of it, and possibly have a hat on (depends on the temp at 6......), DD will have a flannel jacket on.

Anybody who is going try to find us so we can say hello!

Rain came down on a tin roof. I knew that would raise your hackles fordmommy and thought twice before typing. Don't worry it's part of a John Prine song probably twisted to suit my memory. I don't mind. I had so much fun this morning that I have tears rolling down my ugly face, just thinking that soon I'll be able to do this every day when I'm not fishin. I'm not kidding. This goes soo deep! More than I realized. I want to live life the way it should be not the way others think I should. That's why JP hits home along with Goose Creek, Laura, Bob the cat, and everything and everybody that I've been fortunate enough to able to surround myself with. Just give me one thing to hold on to. "JP". I had absolutely no idea that having chickens would lead me to meet so many good people. I want to thank you all for putting up with me. Hope that I can help you avoid some of the pitfalls that I've endured. Up in the mornin.....

"Moving to the country, going to eat alot of peaches" Also a song by The American Presidents. Thats what popped into my head when I read your post DrH.

Oh the chickens I could have with all that space! I also love old barns with stone foundations. Looks like you need a couple of goats for that farm too.

My DH built me one coop (at least thats what he says) and it will only fit 20 chickens. Will see, someday maybe I'll talk him into another one.

Or I could just start to build it myself and he would take over because I'd be doing it wrong. Thats what he gets for being a perfectionist.
Well the weather isn't as nice today as it was yesterday. Says 75, but that wind is strong and cool. I just can't believe how windy it is today. Guess thats why they built the windmills here. Well better go get something done today, I actually have the whole house to myself. maybe I'll take a nap.

Dr H I'm an old guitar picker and I think I got down quite a bit of JP, but my favorite, of course, is Angel From Montgomery...he's like an old good buddy, isn't he? It's a Big Old Goofy World, isn't it?

There's roosters laying chickens and chickens layin' eggs
Farm machinery eating people's arms and legs
I wasn't hurtin' nobody
I wasn't hurtin' no one

Hey Beckyschicks, we sure do want to come up and visit you, the girls have spring break this week, hows it looking by you? Send me a pm and let me know, ok?

I am excited about all the space and now my mind is taking me to the outer reaches of chicken madness, already...

We had such a great time playing with the chicks outside yesterday afternoon...and I think they were feeling pretty good about it, too.

Good afternoon! (HI Nicole!) I have guineas...1 girl and 3 boys...also a fried that raises them near me--I will email you. Glad you came to join us! H&R and family stopped by today to drop off a few roos from Craig's list. They were supposed to be Ameracaunas...we agreed that they arent!
roll.png
Oh well...I put them in with the crippled ducks for a bit of a quarantine, of course they are swarming with lice. Man I hate those bugs!
The banty has hatched 2 more from the "cold" nest. I tossed 4 from another that were sloshy...I have 3 set for hatching next weekend...Of course I am gone next weekend to a scrapbooking thing...good thing it is only in the next town over--I might have to come home!
The microwave is telling me that the chicken is thawed...guess I better go and get it ready to grill--then I need to go and pick up my old dog from Madison--she had a dental today poor thing!
THis working everyday is sure putting a cramp in my lifestyle...I envy you DrH! BBCB--that looks just like the inside of my barn! Good luck with the coop! Terri O

Boy I really need to edit my posts. Just took the greatest nap and had a wonderful dream. I was trout fishin down at the old family farm didn't catch anything but was enjoying the scenery. Then was geode hunting below where my young cousins and I built a rock dam in the sixties. Dunno think I'll have to go see why. Thunder to the west right now. Hope it rains. Man BBCB YOU SUCK! A lot of people on here can play musical instruments, sing, or whatever best I can do is write my name in the snow in cursive. Haven't been able to practice as of late. Going to pull the fence posts around the apple tree and my BFF says he has some that I can have. He said their rusty
lol.png
Oh BBCB your not going to want to hear this. I need evevything that JP ever wrote except for Fair and Square and Standard songs for average people with Mac Wiseman. I really hate to do that to you but if you would do that for me I'd come and till your garden with a plastic spoon. I have a lot of compilations and cassettes. Like I said before I'll pay your price! I don't dicker, hem and haw, haggle, or argue. I don't have time for BS. Well except for on here and when I'm having a beer. OK when it comes to money then I don't mess around. If I sell something to you that's the price, if I want buy something and don't like the price then I won't buy it. Unless it's JP CD's. Dang I'm screwed! It's spring kling!
