What a hectic day!

I'm glad to see I managed to make you laugh though, Terri!

My first batch of Cochin chicks are finally all done hatching!

They're supposed to be Columbians, but....only two or three came out looking promising as far as that goes. I have a couple that are nearly solid white, and two that are a light, creamy partridge color! There's one more chick not pictured because he was still in the incubator drying off - I took his siblings out because they were picking at him. They're adorable no matter how they turn out!

Then, the Portage Post Office calls at 11:30 this morning to tell me that my ducklings from Holderreads were there!

I dunno why they went to Portage, they ought to have gone to the Dells, so I had to drive a little over a half-hour there and back again, but look what I brought back with me:

6 new Dutch Hookbill babies and 5...well, I don't know what they are! I ordered an assortment, and they didn't tell me what breed they are! They're white, so my best guess is either Pekin or White Appleyard. Anyone want some cute white ducks?

EDIT: - They're super-rare Stanbridge Whites! I'm keeping them!

And someone did finally stop by today and take those other ducklings I posted here last week. They're only going to be 8 miles away!

At least next week should be quiet (apart from the 8 new chicks and 11 new ducklings that I'll be cleaning up after) - no more birds are coming, no more eggs are hatching...I can just watch the little babies grow!

Terri O...You are lucky enough. Sounds like you have that longevity gene that everyone wants! What a blessing to know that someday you can get even with someone dear to you...

Yep two 11 qt soup pots dancing with ham & potato vegetable & venison vegetable for the guys at camp tomorrow...couple home made pumpkin pies and a couple dozen home made dinner rolls.
Made the venzun roast til fall apart tender yesterday, for the soup today.

Ahhh, the envelope Doc with the peers and looks from away wondering what the hell am I thinkin?
Send her off to never return, and never forget how much she ment and how important she was.
This truly is life changing....but...what a wonderful feeling to truly be me once again.

Yep, my last day in the last moment when my boss escorted for the last time out of the building brought tears running down my face and a choke in my heart, that I remember well today 8 years later....I'm glad I knew who I was...I know you will be too!

BBCB...I'm so glad you have all that space to work with....you are very fortunate to be able to make the space the way you want it. I'd be doing the happy dance!

Come on fordmommy, us old dogs still need a fresh drink now and again!

I forgot to say before, that ya the turkey hunt is a constant thought now. Talked to the neighbor today where I hunt. Picked up the license and more shells today. Have to take a walk tomorrow and check things out. I'll prolly take the scope off one of my 870's that I let my brother use for deer hunting and change to the 30" full barrel.

I'm gonna set up two turkey tents and hope I chose the right one to sit in. I like a second option, or plan B in case I didn't figure right from the start. It will take a day or two before I go to plan B.

I carry in way more stuff for turkey hunting...I'm in for the long haul.

OOh Annarie if only ducks weren't so messy. They are sooo cute. All fuzzy. Actually(ssshhh don't tell anyone) I think baby ducks are cutier than baby chicks.
Congrats on the kid Terri O- Why are they so "special" when they are first time moms? We lock everyone in the horse stalls until the kids are about a week old. Then its off to the goat pen with the rest of them. Kids any day now for us too. I love spring. Although it doesn't feel like spring today, the weather will be back up there by the weekend. Also Terri-O I sypathize with you and thank you for being so helpful to people. I'm a CNA for homehealth and it's one of the most rewarding and also the most trying jobs I have ever had. Been doing it for 10 years now and still like it if that says anything. I had a client call yesterday and ask me how to clean her stovetop (she just got a new black stove) the cleanser was leaving streaks. Sigh...30mins later I think she had it. Although it did get me out of cleaning stalls for a half an hour. Your good people Terri, I'll get you your eye drops when you get there.

Thanks Bigz! for the wise and insiteful words. You know what I'm going through and it has really helped me cope. I thought to myself this morning this is the second to last Thursday, then I thought hey only one more Wednesday. I'm comin around. Still don't know about tellin them on monday guess I'll burn that bridge when I get to it. Some of the guys at work have already said they'd be PO'd if I spill the beans early. Comes down to my choice. Gonna have to get used to that.

Been busy. Haven't posted in a few days. I've been reading the posts but no time to reply.

BCC came over yesterday and tested for me. Now I can sell a few more babies. DH says I can have a couple ducklings but I have to sell some chicks first.

Next week my bator will be hatching. Due dates are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.

Hoping all goes well. That's for sure. Just had to pull out a few more quiters.

Getting low in there for eggs. I have 12 left of mine and my friends eggs are down to 12 too. We'll see. Com'on babies. You can do it!

Good Morning All... we woke up to 4" of the white stuff today. Looks like it should mostly melt today.


fordmommy if you or anyone needs egg cartons, I have 100's of extra anyone can have for free. Just let me know. I can bring some to the bash on june 12 if someone would like some.

Can you help me find that add for the coops? I searched all over appleton and Green Bay with no luck. I'd like to take a look at that add, if possible. Thanks for the tip!

Doc, kinda funny on my very last day going to work, I was stopped by the police for going 60 in a 45 zone. Told the officer it was last day of work forever and I had alot on my mind. He called his boss and they decided to let me go. He warned me to use my criuse control the rest of the way to work...

Good afternoon--I am done until MONDAY! Yeah!!! I am going to Watertown to the hotel for a weekend of well deserved rest and relaxation with 10 of my closest friends. Yup, it's another scrapbooking weekend! I am loading up my van after I type this and will be ready to head out tomorrow after chores are done!

I cant wait!

Had a not so nice surprise in the mail today...remember when I was complaining about people calling the sheriff for my sheep grazing on the other side of the fence? Well to day said sheriff had a ticket in the mail to me from 2 weeks ago for a fine of $200.50 for "Livestock at Large!" darn! He even wrote me a nice note saying where they were getting out and I penned them that night. Figured I was lucky that I didnt get another fine...surprise!

This one is the last straw...I am going to court for the ticket. The court date is my day off so I might as well go;l I am hoping to get my neighbor to go with me for support. He got out of one of his tickets for a rooster in the road. Man I hat living on a county highway! I sure wish I had the $$$ for a perimeter barrier fence. I would get it up in a second! Anybody interested in coming to help me put one up this summer? Since the neighbor had the place surveryed again I am figuring I should just bite the bullet and put one up....

Gotta go out and check on stuff...thanks for all the encouragement on taking care of the old ones. It is a very rewarding job but also very trying sometimes. Just like any job I guess...but sometimes it is just so hard to be NICE all the time!
