Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Terri that sucks about the ticket! Good luck in court. Have fun this weekend you deserve a brake. I understand the whole being nice all the time. Very waring.
Bigzio- why don't you buy a kit from Menards or Fleet? Or sometimes they have the "floor models" for sale. The kits are about the same as it would be to have someone build one. I told DH that you were looking for someone to build a coop and he said that he also saw someone selling them on CL. I'll keep an eye open for it too. Otherwise maybe I'll talk him into going up by you and building one. He does great work. Sometimes you can also get a nice little shed too and use that. Good luck with what ever you do.

Have a good day everyone!

Terry O sorry to hear about the ticket-guess the sheep thought the grass was greener on the other side. You'll have to check them at night to make sure they aren't hiding tools to help them escape!! Good luck in court.

I know that there is a swap at Walworth county fairgrounds in Elkorn, WI on Sat-not sure if we are going or not yet. If we do it would be to look at poultry netting and some bigger water containers-DH is drawing up a plan for a bigger coop since the one we made last spring only holds about 7-8 chickens at most and the kids have added some more birds with the ones they are raising for 4-H. Last count we are at 29 chickens and 9 turkeys plus just received some test eggs from HAPPY MTN in TN-6 are BW/W Ameracuana and 4 Welsummer. She is trying to see if the Ameracuana hen is passing on the blue egg gene or not.

Does anyone know at what age we will be able to tell what we have for Partridge Cochin Bantam chicks-they are about 8 weeks old or so? We have 10 total but will probably only keep 5 or 6 when all said and done.

Plugged in the incuabtor again and will be adding the eggs tomorrow afternoon and hopefully will have a great hatch

Good luck to the rest of you who are waiting for eggs to hatch out!

Dr H-I've had people who are retired tell me they don't know how they would even fit work in with how busy they are-just think of all the pinics you can have with your friends(just bring plenty of oatmeal/raisin cookies-heavy on the raisins and they'll join you everytime)

Suppose I should go and check the feeders and water-the turkeys will be complaining at me because they are empty!

With all that has to be done around here I will never be bored. I will have to remind myself to play some too. But don't think that I'll need much reminding. I'm sure there will be daily meetings on the pinic table. I'll bring the treats. I actually enjoy making wood, weeding the garden, getting outside, getting dirty and the feeling of accomplishment it brings. Don't think I'd be happy unless I had to clean under my fingernails. I'm going to be eggs-static! Bigz I can honestly see that happening to me too! Once I get a little caught up around here and am tired of going up to the camper I just might make road trips to see all you sicko's out there. Maybe come and give you a hand with something. I'm pretty good at pointing out what you should next:lol: Nah I'd pitch right in. Gotta go pack. Talk Sun. when we get back. Hope everyone enjoys there weekend!

Ditto for me DrH--I hope you get a trophy fish! But I guess you cant eat it them can you? Bummer....

I got all my stuff cut up and in containers for my contribution to the food this weekend. They are making potato soup and it is SO BORING! Just potatoes and bacon...it tastes kind of like mashed potato with bacon. I cut up a bunch of good stuff to add...then the maker says I am "polluting" her soup! Oh brother!

Dh says that he is thinking about going to Detroit to watch the Badger hockey team in the finals. I say he is crazy! I just dont understand that...watch it on TV if you must...better seats anyway and no drive! Whatever!

Becky you can send your DH here anytime to build me a new coop! I think you all should come to our 4th of July party and we can have a coop raising! Lots of good food, beverages and a campfire! You can all camp out in the yard and I can make a giant pan of eggs and bacon for breakfast! (and potatoes from the fire the night before) MMM--any takers?

H&R--I sent you the information we talked about. It is from "goatlady" in case you dont recognize my email! I think you should be able to tell those cochins by now. Jut male and female or colors or what? The ones I have are 4 weeks and I can tell pretty much. The boys start to crow about 18 or 19 weeks I believe.

Well I ate stew again for dinner and it was just as good as last night...I have a ton to do so I guess I will sign off and wish you all a happy weekend in advance! Oh yeah, Becky I lost that baby goat...I have no idea what happened--she was nursing fine when I checked last night at 10pm...this morning she was dead. Sometimes that happens I guess; but not usually with a single! Three more to go and then I believe that I will sell them all. I am tired of goats! Terri O

Thanks for the good wishes! All I really care about is catching the first fish. It's an old custom that my uncle started with me when I was a youngin. First fish gets a nickle. It's a standing rule for anyone that fishes with me. I've aquired quite a few over the years and lost about as many. Especially since I met Laura. She can hold her lips right too. [That's the secret to catching fish] It'll just be nice to get back up there and warm it up for the summer. Fish On!

Dr H, we do $.25 first fish, biggest fish, and most fish. Not to gloat, but I usually end up with the money.

Hello All,

Let's see...

Dr H have a great weekend, go relax and then get ready to pull the plug.

Terri O, sorry about your little goat, you've got your hands full being St. Francine and now on top of it you get a ticket. That just ain't right, girl!

H & R, you've got quite a flock with 29 birds!

Bigz, I wish you were a little closer I've got some great coop plans and we could hammer something together...let me know if you need some plans.

Okay, Tuesdays and Thursdays are my off days so I got my coop all done today!!!!!

The barn room is secure, the roosts are up (and they look great), the nestboxes are bolted up, the straw is down and the waterer and feeder are hanging...pics to follow tomorrow. Now, lets get things warmed up so I can get those smelly birds outside.

Also, I've got more roos than I bargained for, at least 3 of my so-called pullets aren't. Hmmm.

Good Night Everyone!

Evening All.... Just got home from camp the soup was a hit with everyone. Suzie's potato soup with ham has corn, asparagus, cauliflower, carrots, celery, onions, and potatoes with real ham.

Thanks for the help fordmommy, and thanks for the offer Becky...I'll get it figured out.

Terri, sorry about the goat....bummer, plus the ticket sucks I'm sure. When we put in our fence the surveyor told us to make sure the new fence was totally on our property and not directly on the line. That way if the neighbor should damage the fence in anyway he is trespassing and destroying property, and will have no legs to stand on. If it's on the line it's a harder fight to win. It's a shame about the trees.

Doc, nothing but the best wishes for trip. Hope you have a great time.

Thanks BBCB, I'll keep that in mind. I'm gonna have to make some decisions here shortly. I love the sound of a rooster crowing. Can't wait til that music fills the air here again.
Time for a cold one and the heating pad.

Have Fun..... ~ bigzio
