YAY! Cute little Call ducks!
big_smile.png

What color varieties are they? I've been wanting some more Calls SO badly (my little White drake is lonely) but I'm going to wait for my new Cochin babies to grow up and give some eggs to a broody next year - I've heard that broody Cochins generally do a good job hatching Calls.

It's been a busy week. I have three new Welsh Harlequin ducklings that are ALL boys, hatched from eggs I picked up at the Beaver Dam swap last month. If any of you want them, you can HAVE them, I only paid $1/egg. I have some more Bantam Cochins hatching right now, as I'm typing. Of 13 eggs, only two made it to lockdown

, BUT I have one adorable little yellow chick out, and the other egg has a nice, big pip.

EDIT: They're both out! Two of the cutest, yellow Cochin chicks! I'm not sure if they'll be White, or very lightly marked Columbians - they came from Columbian parents who've been known to throw some whites, so we'll see.

Lets see...my Australian Cattle dog mix attacked the neighbor's Beagle/lab mix. Neither was seriously injured, but it was pretty shocking, because my dog has always been great with other dogs.

Kool Aid Queen - I'm sorry. I'm sure your family will pull through just fine.

Koolaid Queen, my sincere thoughts go out to your family.

Well, it seems none of the Silkie or polish eggs I have in the bator are good. I'm just devastated. I just built a lovely brooder box for them by myself. I watched them and was very carefully monitoring them but I posted the candeling pics today for opinions and everyone said that none of them looked good.

Hope everyone is doing well. Good luck on the call ducks babylady! Crossing my fingers on the jobs BBCB!

Hi Everyone! Sounds like everybody is really busy! I have been busy working..
sad.png
certainly not as fun as doing stuff around here! Good job on the laundry DrH! I guess L is the lucky one to have you! Even hanging out--what a guy! I hung 4 loads out too...took down 2 today when I came home for an hour between clients to feed the critters.
Thanks for sharing all the lics...saw some nice horse legs in one of them (Becky?) I was so tired today that I went to take a nap after work. I slept for three and a half hours! Guess I must have been pretty wiped! I am just back from a 4H meeting now and am feeling tired already! Guess I will finish this up and get to bed for a bit of reading. Lots of work again tomorrow...
Everything is doing good here...got another baby goat the other day and I think this one will make it. Cute, black and white buckling. He has and "experienced" Mom so should be OK. I am having a problem with my EEs that I separated to see what kind of colors I could get from them...there are 3 hens and they stopped laying now! Thinking about using that run for the Australorpes instead if they dont get going soon! The Roo is Mr Red that you all saw pics of earlier in the year. Now one of the hens seems to have a bumble foot or something...it never stops!
Hey Annarie...I would like to have some call ducks--I will PM you.

Goodnight! TErri O

KAQ Sorry to hear about the ex. How old are your girls? Hope they adjust OK! What are the chicks in the first pic? BBCB that's encouraging news! Never thought of it till just now. A good saleperson would be one that can even sell themselves. Kinda like a hooker.

Hope it works out for ya! Didn't make it into the garden yesterday. Started in the garage thinking that I'd get out there after it warmed up. All the containers of assorted nuts' bolts, and washers are now sorted. 2 walls of the garage are now done one to go. Yesterday was the worst wall. It's weird walking in there. Thought when I started this project that there would be ample room for the riding mower. Not going to happen. Hey I told you it was all "good stuff". 2 old gas cans and a rack for screwdrivers are the only things being removed. Heading into the garden for sure today. With the rain coming in I can work in the garage then. fm and BCC bring your rain coats tomorrow! And maybe a tarp. Maybe make a sign with your inventory so you don't have expose them to the rain? TO I can believe your wiped, your always jumpin through hoops! That's a shame MtF maybe they weren't fertile. I agree Bigz but don't want to get busted. Turns out it's regulated by the Dept of Commerce. Will call today if I remember. 18 yards sounds like about the amount I need. If I was closer I'd come give ya hand. Was just thinking of a time I found the tractor not working worth a darn figured out that I needed to take smaller bites with the blade. It took longer but was still better than a shovel. And more fun. Take care of your back! gotta go

I had forgotten this; we have a local Cooper's Hawk in the neighborhood. I spotted him yesterday sweeping through the backyards, so beautiful! Of course all my neighbors have bird buffets in their yards so it is easy pickings for the hawk. I would not care if he took out some of the starlings and English Sparrows...... When I get the Calls hatched out however, I will have to make an enclosed run for them to hang out in with lots of cover so the hawk does not think they are on the dinner menu.

Off to the Valley to do some tile shopping, enjoy this beautiful day everyone!!!!

Good morning, kind of chilly and windy here this am but the sun is out. Had a fun day yesterday got back to school about 6:15 pm last night and then home to dinner which DH and the 2 boys had ready. Everyone was in bed by 8:30 pm last night. The Shedd was fun we were there for a couple of hours and then went to the museum of science and industry which was very intersting-we only made it through some of level 1 then went to get ice cream in level 2 and back on the bus so we could leave by 3 pm. We have talked about going back to see more as a family.

We'll be candleing the eggs again tonight to see what has developed and hopefully have some chicks by next week Friday-if that all goes good we talked about getting Andalusian eggs to replace the ones my DD had die, of course these won't go to fair this year. Our turkeys look to be out growing their pen that we just cleaned last weekend so we have to figure out how to give them more room- not sure we want them outside yet as they are only 6 weeks old...... there goes more space in our big work garage...poor DH we are over running it on him. Of course with being so busy right now with the rental units we haven't had spare time to plan and start the new coop!

Kool Aid-Queen hope you and your kids are hanging in there-it's hard to watch our kids hurt and only be able to do so much
