Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Sounds like an owl. The ones around here have huge wing spans (4+ feet) and are active in the dusk. I've got one around here that is a monster. Again, MTF, sorry about the silkie.

Hi!

I'm new!

Hey Cheeseheads! I just found this thread after being on BYC for a couple of months. I'm in Hudson (suburb of the Twin Cities). Anyone else from around my area? We are raising our first flock, and I am very much smitten with the little things. Our chicken babies include 3 Light Brahmas-Jack, the one roo we are keeping, Little Alice, an Carrot; 5 EE--Felicity, Wendy, Daisy, Maisy, and Tweety (suspected roo), 3 Red Stars--Annie, Rosie, and Daphne, and 3 Roo Black Australorps--Larry, Mo, and Curly. Anyone want one? lol.

I just finished enjoying watching the chicks pecking around the yard with one of the wild turkeys who frequent our yard! One of the BA roos kind of checked him out and made sure everything was cool, but they all seemed to get along okay, though the chicks kept a good 20 foot distance from the turkey. Kinda neat to see, though.

Gotta go read the last 200+ pages and get caught up to speed.

! I know where Hudson is, we have stopped there to eat on our way to the Twin Cities (my brother and his wife live in MN).

Well one job has given me an offer. Not what I want/need, and not the job I want either. I think I will give them a definitive answer after my interview Wed. (the job I really want and need).

Still have the one call duck cooking away and trying to find a hatchery who will deliver around the same time or at least try to get birds roughly the same age as this one should be. Of course I am getting ahead of myself too. A local breeder would be the best but besides BCC I do not know of anyone who is selling call duck babies.

I hope everyone had a good Mother's day. Now FM get out and do the sunshine/HEAT dance!

Good Morning to All! And welcome TLF!!!!! From your first post it's obvious you need to be here to share your affliction.

Had thought of setting it up on the back porch but think it'll go in the garage. It's draft free and of course will have a heat lamp on them. Will do a temperature check on it. Their coming from Meyers in Ohio. They guarantee them for 48 hrs and replace or credit you for any losses. Hope they arrive OK

Wish the weather was warm enough for the rest of the girls to come in and inspect the noises. I'm sure they'll want to inspect them. Have to go to the bank again. My ex is heading to KS. to get the oldest and take her back to Ga. She got an internship at an animal rehab place that she used to work part time at. I offered to go get her and take her home but the ex wanted to spend some time with her. So I'm footing the bill for travel expenses. Bank account says this is it. DD has to pay them for the internship, seems messed up to me. Once again I too have a hen turkey hanging around the yard. Peaches keeps a close eye on her. What a boy!

Bigz How many did you hatch? Sounds pretty cool! Are your Java's still doing well? BL4 tough to be in that situation.

MTF sorry to hear about your silkie! The only way to prevent something like that is to have them move into your house and you live in the coop. Or build a 10,000 sq ft pole shed. BBCB sounds like your getting things sorted out, good luck with the roo's. Still laugh at the name Jerry Lee! Still sending positive vibes on the job situation, gonna turn it up a notch or 2. I hear ya on the third shift. KAG would love to see what would happen if the eggs would hatch if left alone. But think the environment would prevent that. I think TO is still being doused with warm water to get her off her horse. Gotta go in case the post office calls. Throw another log on!

Ahhh. It was right at dusk too I had just walked outside to bring them back inside. I went to Menards and picked up some 1/4 gauge hardwire cloth rolls and plan to work on it tommorow after this rain goes away.
