Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Glad you survived TO! Sorry for the losses! The second time I went out to check the little ones a few were shivering under the light. 75 watt and 97* so I switched it out for the infra red. All was good. Last time a few were stretched out with little goggles on. Wonder where they had those hid? You should see it. They've been here 3 1/2 hours and I've been out there over 6 times.

They'll get a great WI tan! I've got little ones in the tanning salon out in the shed too. I'm out there more than I'm inside. It's cold, damp, and I'm thinking I should put on some goggles and set up a light for me to sit under out there

all those who are new!

caledonachickens good luck with getting chickens in Racine, I voted yes for you!

DrH-just do what we do and keep them in your kitchen, that way you don't have to go far to check them! We keep ours in a small animal cage with a plastic bottom and wire sides/top, we can hang a heat lamp from the top and all set. We use paper towel on the bottom for awhile until they figure out the food and water idea. We keep them inside until they are 3-4 weeks old or they start to over power us smell wise

DH is pretty good about it as long as they are kept clean and this way the chicks get alot of handling and I know where my youngest DS is.

Well the poll said 52% yes and 46% no. I wonder why people would vote no? You got a YES from me...of course! I am just taking a little break from tick picking...OMG! I got about 25 off of one dog and the one that had a problem staying on the trail I have about 50 (so far!) I am headed out to feed the critters. The little hen I brought in is doing much better now; sure am glad I noticed her. I feel that she would have been gone by tomorrow. I am thinking about taking a heat lamp outside for the others. They look so cold huddled together on the floor. The big chickens keep knocking down their perch and wont let them roost with them yet. Sassy hens!
Early to bed for me tonight...I have a bad case of sore muscles from riding and sleeping on a narrow cot for three nights (and 1 day

) A queen sized bed has never felt better than it did last night! I guess that is the key to enjoying what you have...cook over a fire, sleep on a cot and pee in the woods for a long weekend!

Although I would go back in a second!
BIG DAY tomorrow! Headed to Portage to look at that pair of Yellow Naped Amazons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you tell I am excited? I will fill y'all in tomorrow! Terri O

Welcome to all that are new! Glad you found us. DrHa I agree with Hens and Roos, keep them in the house it's alot easier. Thats what I do, in an aquarium in the laundry room. Have wire cover. If DH would have let me I would have moved mom and the new chicks into the house, but he told me no that chicks were one thing but Murry the hen makes big poops not little poops. I had to agree with him. Bigzio good luck with your new chicks. Terri O glad you had fun and stayed kinda warm. Thought of you Sunday morning when we were riding in Palmyra and I was cold. Sorry about your losses. MTF sorry about your loss too.
Looking forward to June 12th, I need a reminder of what I said I would bring. I think I said dessert but who knows. Been busy lately, DH grandfather that is 95 isn't doing great. I'm going to work tomorrow to tell them that I am dropping down to pool so I can help grandpa. They won't be happy, but family comes first in my book. I told DH that at 95 his grandpa could use someone to pamper him. DH just told me he loved me. Makes me feel good to know I'm giving him piece of mind. Well hopefully with weather will be good this weekend. Got the relatives coming over for a party. I won't have room in the house for all of them if it rains. Well have warm and dry night everyone!

Hey Bigzio

thanks for renewing my interest in backyard chicken. Glad to hear that the Java chicks are doing well. Your little buckeyes are scrambling around the brooder box. Eating and drinking just fine. Now all you need is some dels and you will be set. See ya tomorrow.
Dave

And to buckcreek chickens. The bators you sold me are working flawless. First hatch was the bucks for big. Now I have bucks black australorps, dells RIRs and java hatching now. Hope the java eggs you got from me did ok.
