Doncha just LOVE summer?! Everyone is so busy outside...I am so glad I found you guys; my current friends are complaining about the heat, the sun, the bugs etc etc etc...I just want to be outside! Went to visit my parents yesterday--they are doing OK--we sat in the back yard under the maple trees...sooooo nice! What a great way to spend time! I must confess though, that I kept thinking of all the "work" I have to do here!
I have a great solution for the lawn thing...SHEEP! They do such a nice job of keeping the grass down and even do the trimming! I highly recommend cutting down lawn space and either getting something to graze it or letting it go wild! A prairie? There are great alternatives...who actually uses 4 acres of lawn anyhow? Mt brother just bought a new place in Muskego and he says he is "reclaiming the lawn." I told him he was nuts...."but that grass is waist high!" SO WHAT! I think he was just excited to get a new lawn tractor....MEN!
So sorry about your hen KAQ! Probably a raccoon...she would have come back in the night to eat the eggs. They are feeding babies right now and are HUNGRY! A few years back I got a huge female in a trap that ripped a goose open head to tail just before her nest was to hatch then came back the next night for the eggs (but I got her instead) I love all animals but they need to stay in the woods and out of my barn! I have some nice and cuddly rabbits for your kids....
Kinda going on the same premise as Annarie---hoping someone will fall in love with them! (I want runners again now!)
BBCB--you MUST come to the bash! We need to have a quota of men there so they can talk amongst themselves! DrH and Bigz will be so disappointed if you dont show....and so will a few others!
Here's to you getting there!
On my second cuppa now...starting to be able to move...I think I may bring shredded turkey for sandwiches too...have to see if I have time to do it--we are having another meeting for my 4H club to finish stall decos for the fair. With so much going on it will be here before I know it! I am kind of glad that my daughter will be out of it in a year...I am hoping that I will be able to turn over the reins of the club...hard to do after so many years of being the leader!
OK--off to look at what my Mom sent (and put most in the car for St Vinnies) Talk to you all tomorrow! Gas up the trucks and get to the bash! Dont forget your white elephants!!! Terri O
