Hi there, Roo3, don't remember seeing you here, welcome!

Annarie, thanks for the heads up

It wasn't like Julie was needing hens right now, but maybe she'll be surprised. She gave Amber a call, waiting for a reply, maybe we'll head up and get her a Mille Fleur D'Uccle tomorrow

Thanks again. How do you know all these people???

KAQ, congrats on the new babies

I didn't know her actually - I just comb Craigslist every day. The only reason I even found her was because she has some White Call ducklings too that I was very tempted to e-mail about, but in the list of Bantam chicks she had for sale I saw "Mille Fluers", so I e-mailed to ask if they were, in fact, D'Uccles, how old they were, and how many were left. I'm always shopping for birds. I'm addicted. It's a sickness.

I counted the ducks this evening - there are 35 of them right now; 30 adults and 5 ducklings in the brooder.

Only 17 chickens though. I think I need more.

And while I was counting the ducks, I noticed that the sky looked very yellow and it smelled a bit like smoke. Next thing I know, there's bits of ash drifting out of the sky! My neighbor comes running up the driveway telling me that there's lots of smoke and it looks like part of his paintball field (he owns and runs Stalker Paintball) is on FIRE!

We drove out there, and it wasn't his field, the neighbor was doing a controlled burn right on the property line. Three MASSIVE piles of pine, flames shooting at least 30 feet in the air, spitting ash all the way in my backyard, about 3/4 of a mile away. Called the county and they were going to drive out and check it out - it wasn't supposed to be that big.

I just wanted to beat Dr H for the first post of the day!

Finished laying the tile around 2 this AM, but I am SO happy it is finally finished!

Off to bed, I am beat. Going to Strawberry fest in the AM and then taking the sister shopping in the afternoon..... after a nap I think.

Rooster!

Good Morning all! And good night BL4. 2:30 WOW but you'll sleep better now that your almost ready for grouting. Congrats on getting that done! Welcome rooster3! Sounds like you have a good selection of critters. Come tell us all about them! Bigz sorry to hear about your compadre! Sad thing is we all get our turn. Suzie doesn't have to send the yeast I'll check other stores or get some on line. But tell her thanks for the thought! Sure was good to have fresh bread. Going to have to use the front porch for rising from now on. Now you've got me excited about the pic. Sad for your losses KAQ!

What is this world coming to? Good luck in the woods and garden. DH mowed yesterday in between the storm that really wasnt much...H&R and Co stopped over to drop off another Roo for me. He is just adorable--definately some game bird in him. If I can get him to hold still I will try to get a pic.

Welcome Roo#3--too bad you didnt find us last week! We would have liked to meet you at the bash--next year hey? Anyway, we welcome your trapping advice--I just used a gun on my last problems...Where in the state are you?

Well, I have to go to work to day
barnie.gif
on a Saturday no less! The man's people are out of town for a wedding so I am taking him meals this weekend. Sure wish he would leave his air conditioner ON! He does not understand thermostatically controlled.

Parrots are having HB egg for breakfast...that quail kept me up last night! Arent birds supposed to be asleep at night? Have a great day...gotta hang some laundry before I go...Terri O

(PS) BL4--I have a botched tile job at my house...now that you are a pro--how about it?

Good morning everyone. Slow going rummage this morning. I figured it would either be extremely busy or extremely dead due to Strawberry Fest in town today.

Dh and I say if it stays lke this, we're closing at noon. I think I'll stick to my earlier dates to have my sale. The beginning of May is the best time.

I am glad that the storms stayed away though.

Annarie, how scary! I'm glad that they called some professionals to handle that fire. That is scary business.

Well-enjoy the day everyone!

I cannot believe I am awake (sort of...). I feel like I was hit by a truck! I think the satisfaction of having a toilet back in the downstairs bathroom will outweigh the pain in the end. That and not having peel and stick tiles coming up all the time!

Skipping out on Strawberry fest, I do not have the energy reserves and we should have left at 8 to get good parking.... plus all I want right now is food and java...

I called my bro who lives in the Twin Cities about the storms the night before, he told me they had tennis ball sized hail and the storms turned the skies orange. The tornadoes were nearby him but he was not affected.
