Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning guys!

Well Damien is still unsick but man his sleeping schedule is ALL messed up! He didn't go to bed last night until 2:30!!!!
barnie.gif
I'm not one who can be sleep deprived so I had an...angry moment with DH when he was in the garage shooting the ya know what with the guys and I was trying to get to sleep with a crying baby at 11. So, he came up in a hurry and took over from 11-2:30. I then came out and told DH to come to bed, as he was lying on the couch and I could hear him getting really aggrivated. Soon after, Damien fell asleep.

He woke up today at 11amish, and we are skipping his nap to try and make him real sleepy. Hopefully tonight we can at LEAST get him to bed by 10. He usually never has a problem going to bed at 8:30.

Ed's (DH) parents are coming into town today, from the U.P. and will be staying until tomorrow morning. Short trip, they usually stay for at least a weekend if not a week.

TO) Thanks for the info from the farm, I look forward to hearing about it.

Lol am I only the one whose garden has NO weeds?

No, we don't have any weeds in our veggie garden either...but that's because our soil here is sand, sandstone, and the occasional lump of clay, so we grow all our veggies in containers...mostly EarthBoxes, they have a cover over the top, so there's no weeding, and they water from the bottom. We've been harvesting eggplants, beans, and peppers for weeks now, and we'll have zucchini and ripe tomatoes within a few more weeks.

By the way, does anyone know how to pickle banana peppers?

The ducks are all moved into the new pen. I'll have to pick a nice, dry day to take them out and put them in a dog crate for a day while I finish up the trimming, shingling, and staining - but for now, they're safe and they're having a blast! I'll spare you all the dozens of pictures I took this morning, but I started a thread over in the duck forum if any of you want to go have a look: https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=375175

And
now it's time for lunch!

Sounds like a great recipe BCC! I bought banana peppers this year because that is ALL Walmart got in! The plants are going great guns but man, those peppers are not your usual banana pepper! These babies are SPICY and HOT! DH took a little bite from the end of one I just picked and started to sweat...and he loves hot stuff! Do you think your recipe will work with them? DH and DS like hot, pickled peppers...what do you think? The plants are my only pepper plants that are producing this year! Wouldnt ya know it!
Raiquee--my garden doesnt have too many weeds...I am loving it! I used my carpet weed mat again this year. I went around and got a bunch of old carpet and backing and use it in the rows. I only have to weed in between the plants then and I can keep up with that...yesterday was the day for doing all around the outside so now it looks really great! My geraniums that I put at the corners in pots this year are doing exceptionally well too. Now if I could only go out and enjoy the yard without getting 1,000 mosquito bites in ten minutes!

I ordered the Tylan for my turkeys...these turkeys are going to end up being $6/lb at this rate! Those darn raccoons better stay away from them!
Guess I better go and get that roast in or I will have nothing to eat this evening...feels kinda OK in here so I will make it in the house. The humidity must have dropped! YEAH!

My big garden sure could use some rain...
Later! Terri O

I'm going to post pictures of my garden, hope no one minds! I take great pride in it, as I don't have chickens

I'm only posting a few pictures, maybe a few more in another post. Don't want to bog the thread.

Annarie) How do you like those earthboxes? I want to try those for my peppers as I can't give them the soil they need in my garden, and wanted to give them a whirl. I heard great reviews, but I think I need more good talk about them before I spend 30+ bucks on one.

These are my "mystery" tomatoes...I got from the sitter. Behind them is pole beans.

Lemon Boy Tom plant. It's going GANGBUSTAS!

Good Evening Everyone! Amyable unless a banty snuck in from parts unknown Nope! Glad you got to go weightless for a spell! I did manage to add another seed to the bator today and will continue to do so for a few more days penciling the date on the them and will hand turn them after the turner comes out. BCC copied your recipe the BFF just offered me some BP's Sat. going to call him in a bit to see if he still has them. So the boiling pickling ingredients are just the horseradish, sugar, 2 cups water, and 10 cups of vinegar? BL4 glad you enjoyed your trip! So if this job comes through will you be relocating to TO's neighborhood? In the country? There goes the neighborhood TO!

I have to go down to good neighbor Donny's house and get a pic of his roo. I talked to him last night and he dang near made me pee my pants with his description of him. He told me that he looks like he has mange!

I gotta see this! Sadly he lost 3 hens the other night with the same M.O. His son saw something running through the grass but didn't know what it was after I told him about the Fisher in the hood he thought that, that could have been it. I'm going to hatch him out some chicks and I'll offer the third pic of a roo that you can at least stand to look at.

Raimnel gets #2 if it happens. Stuffing for the peppers is just about done but needs more zip. Better get at it to feed my workin girl. Glad you found your garden H&R and Raiquee hope the chillin gets back to his regular hours. Used to do guard duty 2 hours on 2 off when the kids were sick. Not condusive to a good next day.

Darn--wish I had known about Foy's! Their Tylan was 2 bucks cheaper! That site didnt come up in my search though. I got it for $44.95 and $6.35 shipping--those turks are going to cost $6/lb by the time I am done with all this! I will try that recipe with my peppers--I hope they turn out!
Raiquee--your garden looks great and I sure wouldnt mind some of those eggplant seeds! They are very unusual looking. The one I have on my plant is about the size of the tip of my little finger. Guess it will be a while before I get a taste of that one! Maybe we should get together and I'll bring the tomatoes and you can bring the eggplant!
I have done absolutely nothing this afternoon. Right now I think I am going out to take care of the critters, make a big batch of popcorn and then off to bed! I have no idea why I am so tired...must be all that fresh air I got all weekend? Good night all--happy dreams! Terri O

the reason Foy's prolly didn't turn up its a pigeon supply store.

I order from:

Foy
Culter
Priemer one

Generally those are the only one's I need, i've found they have the best prices and shipping.

yup, that's it. I put up a total of 3 batches Raspberry jelly and one batch of Raspberry-Blueberry seedless jam. next it cherries, hopefully will go pick later this week but will see. Have to go test cedar posts birds tomorrow. wish i could find some blackberries, haven't had those since a friend moved from next door to rawhide.
