I'll try my best to remember! It sounds like it's going to be a VERY busy day.
I won't be hard to miss, besides being in a chicken skirt, I think my family's coop may be the only one with chicken murals painted all over it. I can't wait- but I have a lot to get done before Saturday!!

As for the tomatoes... chopping them up and sitting them in a platter full of a vinaigrette was one of my grandmothers favorite ways to eat them!! I LOVE stuffed tomatoes, but cherry tomatoes might be to small for that. Good luck!

I stand corrected on one issue. Of the Family Hogna (Lycosidae) which contains over 2000 different types of wolf spiders, one genus Sosippus spins a funnel web.

Good Morning All! Cool with a nice breeze. Yes I did BL4 was up at 3:50 yesterday so it was needed. Slept till L's alarm went off at 6. Thanks for the spider info recognized several. Still need to peruse to find the long legged ones. Their kinda neat they move their web if you get close. Have them going into crawl space and occasionally in the house. Spiders are not welcome in the house but their safe outside. TO I too thought the zig zag web was a repair job. Glad I got up yesterday I learned something. Welcome back Raiquee! Dontcha hate undependable people! Stupid idiot face! Now I have a ? Was removing some rings off of jars and found one relish lid that wasn't down. When I pushed on it, it didn't pop up or down. The jar is really really full. I put it in the fridge and the temp change made it pop up. Do you think it's OK? Everything was washed and sterilized! Think I made it about 2 weeks ago. Going out to pick overflow this morning, the ex is coming over and giving what she doesn't want to her friend and then the rest she'll take to her church. Egg production has been improving getting 3-4 a day now from the 6 layers. BFF is coming over to clean up the trees by his deer condo then we're going to take a stroll into the sweet corn field next door. I look at as compensation for the spray plane at 5 AM. Going to pull the carrots today and pressure can them. Gotta go!

Hey DrH- not sure that I would take the chance on that jar since it wasn't noticed for a couple of weeks- better to be safe than sorry!

We are getting pullet eggs 1 or 2 a day, we think that the Partridge Bantam Cochins are starting to lay, DD-Blue Andalusians started before fair but nothing since.... not sure what's going on but we'll wait and see.

Off to hopefully finish painting in my unit.

Thanks H&R that was my thought too just hate to see it go to waste. But really don't want it coming out of both ends at the same time. I hate that! Gee where will I find cuc's for more relish?

Was thinking of making more cause I was borderline enough and that pint convinced me we need more. Just shipped off an overflowing plastic groc bag of beans, a nearly full one of grn and jalapeno peppers, and a full bag of cuc's. Ex said she'd find them a good home.

Went out to collect eggs and found one of the slw's making a nest on the floor in the straw. Guess it's time to put straw and chips back in the nest boxes. The older girls wouldn't lay in them after the attack. Think they got cornered in them. They've been laying in the communal one and in the straw in the wheelbarrow. Dug up the small row of carrots filled a 5 gal pail.

Not going to peel them as suggested you lose a lot of nutrition but will scrub them instead. Think I'll be giving carrots away after today still a full row out there. They smell and taste wonderful!

I wouldn't trust it either, Dr Ha Ha.

Just pour it in the compost.

It's getting hot already. Think I better get stuff done while I still can. Enjoy the sun, everyone!

P.s. H&R, we're getting 3-4 pullet eggs a day here. I got to watch one being laid yesterday. (I have gotten to see lots laid. I'm always in there

) So I know who's laying what.

Good morning everyone! Nice and cool here today and cloudy too. DrH if you find out which spiders are those long legged ones that wiggle their web (isnt that cool?) please let me know their name! I have a bunch of them that love the basement window and I speak to them while I do laundry! They all have "B" names with "the basement spider" following their name.
Today I am working in the afternoon so I am taking it easy here...

Checking out some recipes and stuff...garlic jalapeno jam is on the docket for this week. OH oh I hear the girls making a bad racket---right back!
Well, nothing out there that I could see...my new cuckoo roo is gone though! I didnt think he was in the dog pen last night with the other new one...no sign either. Maybe he is out in the weeds but I have no idea how he could have gotten out of that 6' high pen!
Very nice outside too...think I will hang some laundry out before I go...the skeeters werent even too bad--now THAT is something to crow about!
I get to go to another funeral this week...that man that passed a month ago? His wife has gone to join him! I am really glad for her--it must have been hard to be apart for even a month after being married for 73 years!

Have a great day everyone! Terri O

Did I mention to you guys that there are NO skeeters in UP? AMAZING I do say, then I came into the garden and almost died! My body wasn't used to being drained of blood so quickly!

I think my garden is savageable. Looks pretty sad though.

Just the bottom half of almost all my tomato plants leaves are dead. Which on some (like the Black Krims) isn't a whole lot because I kept the leaves trimmed off real well as the toms get so big! Maybe I will throw a little "I love you" Fertilizer in there. Thinking of throwing some radish seeds in the ground, what do you all think? When is the frost suppossed to hit here this year? I think I will be safe. Contemplating some arugala too. Who knows. Thinking of ripping out that squash plant, the borers got it bad. Parts of the main stem is hollow! Cept it keeps flowering....maybe I will let it go a while longer until it succumbs to powdery mildew.

I guess my ducks are huge and getting some real feathers in? I dunno, haven't seen em yet. They come home today, and Yes I WILL GET PICTURES UP FINALLY.

Re-did a bunch of refridge pickles. Wasn't digging the brine. So I followed a recipe and dumped out the old brine and placed in the new. Wonder if the pickles will really change flavor? I think they soaked up what they could already. Bummer. Prolly going to do another 5 quarts of pickles today. Dang cucumber plant!

Looks like we are gonna have something with eggplant for dinner, cause man-o-man I got a lot of em. Too bad eggplant gets funny when you freeze it, and nasty when you can it. Maybe I can find a recipe for something to can with eggplant in it. Hrm. A good caponata would be fab.
