Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

BL4) Currently going for MLT (MATC) , then next fall starting MT (UWM), then going to med school for M.D/Ph.D Pathology (UW-Madison or depending where we move). Nothing is cooler to me than being a doctor of disease

. We do use weakened viruses/bacteria in the lab, you are right. Cept when we collect the specimens from ourselves. We actually do that more than I thought. We collected urine, and blood a few times. Now I was using my own blood, but urine we used everyones in class. We are also doing throat swabs of students in a few weeks. I'm not so worried about the schooling part, I'm worried about clinicals. They start November 17th, so I will only be a few months pregnant and would run until I'm 7ish months pregnant. I completely have the safety know-how to keep myself safe, but what happens if someone at the site makes the decision for me?

I just want to make sure I dont ruin this for myself, clinical wise. Our rate last semester for students getting hired out of clinicals was 100% (Which is fabulous!). Are you a teacher at UW-Mad? I thought I remember someone being a teacher there. If so, what do you teach?

It's silly when you get up at 6am to go to school, and your toddler doesn't wake up for another 3 hours isn't it??!? I got to sleep in today, as we don't have classes on Fridays. Today is my "off" day. I usually study after class until 10 at night, Mon-Thurs so I can have the weekend off. I hate Mon-Thurs but it pays off by the weekend when I can be a couch potato and all the other students are hurrying to get there things done. Kinda hurts my heart though because I don't see DS at all during those days, I leave before he wakes up and come home after hes asleep. But then I can spend a whole day with him on the weekend. Plus I know what I am doing now is going to pay off in the long run, being able to give him a better life and pay for his college education.

So, I am cleaning today and looking at my dead-ish garden. Talking to my lone duck. Maybe me and hubby and DS will go and pick up duck materials for the pen today. That would be exciting. Gotta drink a few more cups of coffee first though.

I finally got my deductable back from my car accident. I don't think I was on BYC when that happened. March 31st a "dummy" (as we will call him) ran a red light as I was turning off the freeway ramp and T-boned my back end. I drove a Hyundai Accent, aka the tiniest plastic car in existance and he drove a commercial van. Guess who won? I was alright, suffered some mild injuries, my car however was totaled. He bent my rear axel. Did I mention I payed off this car on March 17th? Yeah....2 weeks later it's totaled. SIGH. Well, I got my check for the car, but never got my deductable because they were "determining fault" for the longest time. I got it in the mail when we were on vacation! It's gonna float in the savings for awhile, but it may go towards my new cars payment once we get more in savings.

I didn't hear about that dog attack, I heard about the lady "throwing" away the cat. What is up with some people?!?!

Good afternoon! It's another gorgeous day! I wish I could go out to the lake today, but it's packing for college day... I move on Sunday! So much to do!!

WIChookchick / Carol!! That sounds like a very cool looking bird. Could you post a picture of your frizzle brahma and then when you've got your mix... I would love to see that too!

I had the craziest dream about my chickens laying their first egg last night... Obviously, I've been waiting for quite a while. I've already checked for eggs twice this morning, with nothing yet. Maybe I should look around the run area too... I was so hopeful that I heard the egg song while I was sleeping too!

So. hubby was driving and the brakes went out on his truck!!! It's manual, so he was able to slow down. After parking and fiddling with it, they came back magically. Hes scared to drive it home, and I don't blame him!! I told him once he parks it, hes done! Hes not getting back into that truck again!

Yesterday is truck gave out because the truck emptied on power steering fluid. When he looked to see what was wrong, he checked the line that carries the power steering fluid, and it was rigged with a PEN??!!?! The person before him had spliced the line, and connected the two with a pen and some hose clamps!! The fluid had eaten through the pen and dumped out. NEVER buy a truck off craigslist! Grrr! How could someone sell a truck like that, KNOWING there was a PEN holding the power steering fluid line together?!?!!

Hubby is not very car/truck savvy, so this guy took full advantage of his lack of knowledge on it. Wish I still had that guys phone number...would call him and give him a piece of my mind!!!

to Wichookchick! Sorry, I missed you before. I tend to talk too much about myself
wink.png
Sorry!!

That is really crap about the truck Raiquee! People should know better...at least it wasnt the brake like that was spliced that way! He could have gotten killed! Hey, if you and DH want to wait a bit for the next muskovy hatch here I can replace those ducklings for you...I feel bad; you guys were so excited and then to have some run and another die! hey should be hatching in the next couple or three weeks; all you'd have to do is come and get them. Good for you going to school for all that! If I was you I would wait to have another baby...it sounds like a lot to take care of at once. I know how that is though...kind of like once you get the idea in your head...

I did a big lunch for the folks at the retirement home today...and I am stuffed 'cause I got to eat some too. There were only 12 for lunch so there was a bunch left. In fact, I dont even have to make to much for dinner; we can have LO meatloaf, LO broccoli and the desert is "special chocolate Cake." 5 pieces left! Perfect! I just have to peel corn and bake some potatoes...or maybe I will get some out of the garden--that is what I did at lunch Rosemary, Garlic roasted reds. MMMMMM!

DH has been busy cutting up the tree that fell in the yard a few weeks ago...too bad it's a box elder so not too great for firewood. We use it for the campfire though so it doesnt go to waste. I think that wood takes so much energy up to burn that it doesnt give off any heat! I am not too versed in wood but all I know is that if I bring box elder in the house the stove does not get HOT!

OK--laundry is done washing...an excellent day for hanging out clothes! Glad we have this nice breeze for drying AND keeping the mosquitoes at bay. Enjoy! Terri O

Early Evening to All...jennie is home for the fish fry tonight and helped me take some pics. I'm not good at this puter stuff, and hope I can get this done?

Enjoy The week end, stay safe, have fun.... ~ bigzio

TO) Don't feel bad! The ducklings running away was totally my under experience with their jumping skills, and the one dying it happens! Frankie had a large clutch, and had another nest of eggs! Things like this happens
sad.png
You don't need to replace the ducklings. I am positive we will get the ducklings back (if not now, when they are bigger and going into open water). And I'm not worried about the little one that passed. It may have been a runt, or hey it may have been the sitter who watched them while we were gone. Maybe she fed them something they couldn't have. I'm taking it in stride. I should be picking up some scovie babies tomorrow (black and whites!), to keep our lonely one company and then we start the "duck hunt" Sunday I believe. We will pick our favorite drake, keep the females and the other drakes get freezer camp (oh man, this is gonna be hard!) I also agree, it will be hard, but it will be harder as I go on...and your right, when you have it in your head and your hubby says "Let's have a baby" it's hard to say no!! lol.

Bigz) Very nice chicken pictures!!!

Made yummy chicken poblano cheese quesadillas with rice and beans for dinner. Was very good and easy! Gave the lone duck a swim in the bath tub (yes, I learned my lesson) Going to pick up the duckies tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Hey guys, I've been quiet but that's cause I've been busy! Thanks alot for all the great info! This is how far I got today, should be roofed, shingled and ready in no time! Now I have to start thinking about food, waterers ect. Then, Oh I can't wait, CHICKENS!

GOOD MORNING WISCONSIN! I am so thrilled the weather is nice outside! I was so worried it would be raining today! I can't wait to meet some of you at the coop tour- it's going to be a great time!

I hope everyone has a fantastic day!

Looks good, WiscoChiko! What kind of chickens are you planning to get?
If I can make a recommendation on waterers- look up some information on nipple waterers. I love mine, even though I was skeptical about it at first! Or PM me and I can tell you about mine.

Great Morning All!! Too many posts for my feeble mind to address so I won't. Kicked some serious butt in the garage yesterday. Man it was bad! Stood back and marveled at it after I was done and thought to myself now I have room for more "good stuff"!
lol.png
15 minutes after I finished I heard a noise, knew what it was and who it was before looking. It was Goldie tearing things up, man she's naughty! Had a hard time getting her out of there she was determined to have her way with it. Can't walk up the stairs but the downstairs is done. Don't even want to think of starting upstairs right now. Closed it up so I can have one day of it being poopless and Goldieless. Decided the cuc's and beans needed to be watered last night but the pump had lost it's prime. DD and her Bo showed up so didn't get that done. Thought about it haven't watered since June. They came over to look at a 10X10 canvas tent that my Aunt and Uncle bought from Sears in the late 60's. It's still in great shape but probably needs to be water proofed. Big bucks for one like that nowadays. Their going to take it. One more thing out of the garage

I really slept in this morning was in bed and out at 9 and didn't get up till L opened the door to see if I was still breathing at 7:30. WOW!!!! After it warmed up I took P and Btwo out in the yard in the cage. They had a ball! Everyone had to come and introduce themselves several times. It was fun! It's really great to be able to sit and spend time with them! Just watched Mike Rowe at McMurray hatchery sexing chicks. Pretty cool! The squito's came back last night, not good! I do have to say Bigz those are some really nice looking birds! Really like the tail feathers on the Buckeyes! Well better go out and see what there is to see. Enjoy your day!!!
