Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Yeah...I hear ya on the fishing part Bigz--I havent been for SOOOOO long! Maybe I will head to the lake tomorrow! That would be pretty nice for sure!
There is the thread chicken LORE that you can peruse to see if your city is listed. I just got caught up in one debate in CA. To them the law states that you can have cats or dogs--THAT IS IT!!! Lots of wiggle room there when you find out that a congressman's son has a lizard! I am glad I live in the country...even though they say I can only have 4 dogs! Speaking of dogs...I just got a new litter today to foster...JRT pups (6) OMG they are adorable! I am thinking that the Mom is more of a Rat terrier though. The pups look like they are mixed with beagle to me. You will have to form you own opinions when I get pics tomorrow!
OK I need to go to bed....this house is QUIET--the people are at the tournament of destruction at Jefferson Speedway--once was enough for me! I am off to facebook for a minute and then sleepy time....pleasant dreams to you all--Terri O

I got home from work yesturday and look what my husband had waiting for me

They are Silver Appleyards. They are so pretty. I know that the pics arn't very good, but he just got home and put them in the pen, since the muscovies are having issues getting used to them. They are only 6 months old, so next spring they should be laying really good!

He also had a pen full of barred rocks and a couple bantam rhode islands for my DD5

all newbies!

Thanks Amyable, I spent WAY too many times doing things one-handed due to a baby! I kept my hand splinted for the most part of yesterday and it seems to be doing better today, not as painful anyway....

What a day! Apparently a few weeks back my oldest DD spent the night at a friends house and brought some uninvited guests home with her-fleas! Now after the initial scouring of the house, dog bedding and all furry critters I was hoping they were gone, but NOOOOOOO!!!! This morning was spent doing the same thing all over again. I washed 4 cats, 2 dogs, all the dog beds and then all the towels and throw rugs around the house. Whipped out my essential oils and doctored the shampoo along with the collars of the animals. Now everyone smells so pretty!!!!

Next on the list for today's events. It is the 16th Anniversary of the kidnapping and murder of Cora Jones. Why do I know this? My daughter is friends with Cora's second cousin and today the friend went with her family and visited the Antigo area where Cora's body was dumped. I had told my DD about Cora, but never went into details. Today she decided to do her own internet search and found out what kind of monster took that girl and whay he did to her. A huge wake-up call for my DD, and not what I was expecting to end the day with.......

I know everyone is focusing on the events of 9/11, but please remember that little girl and her family. Give your kids extra hugs and kisses.......

Good Morning Everyone! A BIG WELCOME to GothChick!!!! Have to agree with Amyable sometimes it pays not to ask. BL4 sounds like fleas are a real pain in the hand. Hope you heal quickly! Bigzio can't even fathom the number of full jars you have at the end of the harvest. You can be proud to see all the nutrishious and delishious food you've grown and preserved for the future for your family and others! It feels good huh? Have the carrots given away to the point that the rest is for us. Will dig and eat them till the frost starts to get in the ground then can the rest. Couldn't agree more on the fishing part. Started a up north list yesterday. Watching the weather for a good weekend but might have to sneak up there on my own too. The combination lock down and fake eggs seem to be making a difference got 2 eggs yesterday both in nests that had the fake ones in it. Hated to go outside yesterday with them is jail. Man they were mad! B would just scream at me everytime. I'd laugh then she'd scream louder.

Amazingly my to do list is getting shorter but there's a few things to add as always. I like seeing things crossed off!

Hey guys! Hope you are having a good labor day off! I know I am!

Buuut, finishing up some homework that is due tomorrow that I wasn't able to do during study group cause my word wasn't working

Boo.

I also am going out with my dad and my grandparents for my b-day dinner (yes, my b-day was a month ago. My dad is a little slow at celebrating it.) and I hope hope hoooope he takes me to BUCAS. My favorite Italian resturant. Yum yum. He wanted to take me to marty's, but since I am usually highly dissappointed with Italian resturants I kindly mentioned the option of Bucas. (I hope he takes the bait!

) I know he likes bucas too.

Seems everyone is getting new critters sheesh! Or wishing they could get more! I know I am bouncing around the idea of cayugas in my head still...

My son has been the KING if whinners this weekend, and it really dampens the weekend that I get to spend with him
sad.png
You know, every mom wants their kids happy and fun of sunshine all the time. Why couldn't he be grumpy when he was at the sitters and with daddy all week?
sad.png
Jeez. I feel bad, but hes on time out a bunch this weekend. We have a rule that if he starts having a temper tantrum he has it in his crib on "time out" and by himself. It seems to work for us, he definatly doesn't have as many as some of the other kids at daycare, unless hes in a mood. If he doesn't get his way he usually just walks away, rather than throwing himself on the ground and screaming. Yay for us!

Well gotta go!

Raiquee it must be a cranky child bug thats in the air this weekend. I have a 14 month old daughter and she has been terrible all weekend. It got to the point we almost took her to the doctor on Saturday because she is so crabby and nothing we do is good enough for her. She has been soooo naughty!

Well kid crankiness is not in the air here...all I have is "cranky husband syndrome" to deal with!

I guess it was just too upsetting to put your book down and cart out the old refrigerator! I gave my old Kitchenaide fridge from our basement to my neighbor for her to keep her milk in. This is the one with the Jersey that will freshen next week. I am so excited!!! SHe and her DH brought their 2 kids...one is 10 a boy, and the little girl will be two next week. She is just a little dollie...her hair is so curly! My kids all had straight hair so I guess that is why it is so cute to me--her Mom hates it! Anyway...she just talks up a storm. When her mom asked her is she wanted to go down and see the pups she said "I would love to!" Too much! THe boy hasnt gone to school yet cause he goes to the one where the principal's child was killed by that drunk driver this week; so classes have been canceled. The boy was a team mate of his. Poor kid! BL4--FM was telling me about that poor Cora when we were visiting the weekend of the Chickenstock. I think she said she was kidnapped from right in that area. It is just sick what some people can do to others! The family will be in my prayers.

Goth--you are so lucky that your hubby supports your addiction! Those are some cute ducks too...guess we will have to talk in spring about some eggs...I feel bad for you girls with your cranky kids. Good plan about letting him tantrum by himself Raiquee...I remember about one tantrum that each of my kids tried. Either they werent really tantrum type kids or decided that it wasnt worth it 'cause I just walked away chuckling! I did have a few daycare kids that had some...after a little while the parents would ask why they only had tantrums at home....how do you tell somebody that they are doing stuff wrong? I guess there really is no good way if you want to stay in business or want to keep friends!

Speaking of business, I talked to the owner of one of the shelters I work with and she has a friend with a pet sitting business that is looking for employees! She is going to pass my number along. If I decide to work with her I can get my feet wet and see if I really want to start one of my own. I hope she calls soon! As promised...here is a shot of the new pups!

The mom is a rat terrier type and was sleeping away from the pups. They look like rat terrier/beagles to me. Totally adorable--they are 6 weeks now and will go to get fixed and be up for adoption at 9 weeks. I dont have too much work to do with them...they are not mouthy at all which is pretty strange for that age. Maybe I am just used to the bigger dogs?

H&R--do you ever take a day off? Labor day is supposed to be for cookouts NOT cleaning! I actually bought T-bones for the on barbie today...we are so out of steak from the half we got in spring! It seems to be the first to go for us. We end up with a whole freezer full of hamburger at the end. Well--I hope at least you get done quick and can spend some time with your family un-laboring!

Going to peel corn and cut up some squash and taters for supper--then take the older puppies out to explore the yard...have a fun afternoon everyone! Terri O

Newbies!

What a glorious weekend! Went to a campground near us called Wild West Campground. What an amazing place. We should have our meet and greet there next year.
wink.png
Here's the link. http://www.wildwestcampground.com/ It was just great. And while there, and talking with the owner about my chickens, he says ..."hey, one of my staff belongs to a chicken website". And I say, "Is it backyardchickens.com?" And he says..."yes, I think it is." Well- I got news for you. I met WiscoChicko!
clap.gif
He lives just a mile from there and works at the campground. I was supposed to go see his chickens, but we got back late in the evening and didn't meet up again.

But really it was wonderful! If you guys want a great place to stay, this is it. They advertise the horseback riding and stuff, but you don't HAVE to like horses to go here. That's just a bonus.

There's lots of great things for the kids. And the owner grilled 1 lb. rib-eye steaks for all the campers last night. He served like 55 people. And the price was great too. $15.00. You got the "to die for" steak.
droolin.gif
"melt in you mouth!!!!!" corn hash, baked potato, beans, and frosted brownies.

Oh! And dog friendly too! He's got 3 golden retrievers running around and we brought both our dogs. And almost everyone had dogs it seemed.

Quiet. Peaceful. I just can't say enough about how great it was. I recommend it to anyone!

I dated her cousin on and off in High School AND my parents went to school with her parents. So it hits kinda hard here.

She was kidnapped only about 2 miles from my house. I was part of the search mission too.

Terry O- we sometimes take off

it's just that this project was suppose to be done mid Aug and it got pushed back when we had several units with water problems due to the heavy rains. The owner was understanding enough so we want to make sure it gets done asap!

My sister-in-law knows the family of the little boy killed in Whitewater, her daughter went to the same daycare-how sad!
