I'm sorry I have been so inactive for the past week- I've been busy moving into college and attending my first classes.
I have VERY exciting news though- one of my chickens has just laid her first egg! I'm still stuck on my campus, but am heading home tomorrow to go see it! No photos yet- but trust me-- I have MANY to come!!
I'm SO PROUD!!!

Dr. H, thank you again for the crust recipe; made a peach, a cherry, and a triple berry pie with your crust. Very tender stuff!

Whew what a day! Ended up making 2 loaves of cinnamon raisin bread, that dough was like silk so this stuff better be good darn it!

Tomorrow I think I will take it easy...... only bake a cake and then watch movies.

Beautiful Morning Everyone! Had a doe with twin fawns in the yard this morning. Had a yearing in the yard yesterday and every time the chickens would make a sound it would just about come out of it's skin.

Feeling considerably better than yesterday. WOW! BL4 I use that allrecipe from Faye Salisbury for the cin/raisin bread but changed it to 1 Cup sugar and 3 T cinnamon. Glad you like the crust! I see rain forecast the middle of the week should probably make some pies myself. Making bread this morning then out to pull all the tomato cages except for the Big boy. Have to run the last of the cuc's to the bait shop then out to BFF's to shred some newspaper for a worm box. L said yesterday that she wondered how he was feeling? I said like crap I hope! The girls out manuvered me this morning so their out early. Brownie still has a slight limp but she's running so she's alright. AccioSarah Congrats on your first egg!

Isn't it cool! TO agree with Amyable you might as well put them back on cause you know it's going to happen. Nice ride but your going to need a bigger luggage rack for hay. Thinking the DH has been with you long enough just to accept defeat. Kristip My hat is off to you if can hold yourself to 6 birds but the odds are against you. My coop is 12 by 12 and my plan is to double it next year. So my advice to you is build your coop as planned but build it so there's room for an addition. A very large addition. Raimnel That's the main problem with machines TOO small! But like I said can understand people with kids and jobs using them. Better get moving! Slept till 6 I'm running late!

Good Morning! Working on breakfast this am-French Toast Bake, DH just put it in the oven so we'll wonder out to do chores!

Had our house visit from the Aussie rescue so now will see if they accept us as a foster home, kids are excited about the idea of fostering Aussies, of course our Irish Setter was very well behaved-I was impressed!

4-H meeting tonight so have a few things to prep for that, hopefully we will have some new families stop in and see what 4-H is about.

Promised DD an Apple Crumble-trying a new recipe out so will see how it turns out. Pies sound delious but I always have trouble making the crusts-use the same recipe as my mom and hers turn out wonderful and min not so much....DH says I should practice more

OK all you funny guys...you were NOT supposed to notice my boots on the ground!

I HAD to take them off--no mats yet and I had been cleaning out puppy pens...manure is one thing but dog poo is quite another!

H&R--sounds like they check you out better than they checkout foster homes for kids! Sheesh! Acciosarah--was wondering where you had gotten off to! Where are you going to school? And congrats of becoming a "mommy" with your first egg! If you get a broody I will have to bring you out some eggs and then you can be a real mommy!
