to everyone I missed! What a week! Glad to see everyone survived the windstorm of a lifetime!

Enjoy the Holiday!

Good Morning Everyone! Thanks Bec for the tip. Raimnel I have a great recipe for hot pickled eggs if your interested. WCc understand your agrivation sounds just like the gov agency's, no communication between them. Thought they fixed that after Katrina. Going to finish the garage today and move the boat out into the yard so L can park in there and not have to scrape windows. Should say I don't have to scrape the windows. The sump is still keeping up but not gaining any. Going to have to get down in there and get the other pump out to see if I can fix it. Need to get down there to add some support to the floor joists. The kitchen is sagging in spots but the bathroom will have to be totally ripped out. Waiting to get woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of the toilet going through the floor. Really need to hear from FEMA and see what their assesment is. Don't want to get too carried away if they decide to tear the whole thing down. Let the kids out for a couple of hours last night. They really liked that! The wyandottes will be 6 months old in about a week, really need them to start laying. Have a good one!

keep your head up DrH, I can't imagine what your going through.

I'd give ya a heck of a deal! I'll PM ya the recipe soon. Their really good but I'll warn ya in advance your DH should probably sleep outside after ingesting for at least a day afterwards. Had to move the camper into the yard before the boat to clean the garage. They both really block my winter view out back might have rethink the parking, but need the other places open for plowing. Might have to haul it back up north. Lunch time!

OK I am officially sick of this "home health" care... they talked me into it saying it would be sooo much easier than going to an infusion center... where I would sit in a comfy chair, heated with a vibro mode.. with warm blankets and coffee. watching cable....
Late night delivery last night.. so we scraped plans for going out... a 2:30 Cath/picc line flush.. started at 4 ish... and she just left about 1/2 an hour ago.. two flushes, calling the med delivery/med supply company cuz my paperwork, (hand written) said heparin flush.. nothing there of course.
SHE FINALLY got the clots and air out of my line... SO now I am chilled to the bone, heaters on,, covered up with a heat pad.. brrrr....
So I had to cancel my plans for tonight... going out to waunakee to a friends...
Scrapped going out to my Barn owner's ...
And to top it all off, I met a very nice family that had to place a black australorp hen due to too many in their small coop in the township or city...
So now I have a very nice hen who ate the mix of food I had left from having the chicks at home, hanging out in the 30 gallon tank....I let her out to find a perch to sleep on..in my critter room.
She is such a sweet hen, and has been handled ALOT!!
Back to the blankets, I'm cold.

Good Evening All... Just caught up reading the posts. Been falling asleep in the lazy boy the last few evenings. I didn't know about the fish oil and the eyes....I'll have to drink a gallon and SEE if it helps.

Good luck with all the clean up Doc, hope you get answers and help soon. The Gov't needs to realize that real people need real help, real fast! I hope your pullets start laying for you. Me and suzie collected a total of 6 doz so far, and were just talking today about possibly pickeling some. It's something we never did. I never ate one....my kids all love them....so, I'm thinkin I should make some and give them a try. Any receipe would be great!

Stupid tractor didn't start today. Jim said I prolly have water in the gas. Gonna drain some, add seafoam to the tank and try again. I hope i can get it going. Tractors are useless when they don't run and don't skid much wood.

My son shot a fat five pointer last night. He has fresh venzun for the freezer. I'm still hunting hard.

Jim's Delawares are laying good. I'm not sure how many he has, but said he is getting 14 eggs a day. He is pleased with them. I like the black java hens.....just the nicest birds.

Go Pack....Have Fun, Stay Safe.... ~ bigzio

Hi everyone,

Since we are talking about quail eggs, I used to buy them from an asian market here in town. Luckily I am now hatching some and hoping to raise my own. Anyway, everyone always loves when I hard boil the cortunix and button eggs and then put them on top of salads. They are the perfect little bite size eggs for salads and the salad dressing can hide any "gamey" taste they might have to some people. I keep a container of them hard boiled in our fridge and my 16 month old daughter eats them like candy. Or when my husband and I are having fried eggs I will fry her some quail eggs so she has her own little mini version or ours. My family is a big hunting/game meat family, so I will see what other recipes or idea I can find. My dad just brought over a bunch of venison stuff, hot sticks, jerky, sausage, etc. Then he brought bear burgers and my grandfather is giving me a bunch of elk and moose stuff. I think I will have enough to last all winter for sure.

Also I ended up with 4 chicks total out of my 32 eggs I tried to hatch. I got 3 BCMs and 1 Olive Egger. I have another test batch I am going to be starting soon. Hopefully I can figure out what went wrong but I think I already know. So we will see.

to u goth so sad on how many hatched. one thing I keep asking is, did you make sure your hygrometer is right?? look up here on BYC on how to do it. something about salt and water and a zippy bag?!
big_smile.png
check it out it is worth it. I had 2 hygrometer and one was 15 degrees off and the other was 10 degrees off.

DrH my DH would have to sleep outside every night, he keeps pickled eggs on hand most of the time.
Time for bed church bulletins are done printing! talk tomorrow!!

Good Morning Everyone! Bigzio Can't remember how long it took before the oil started to help but it seems to me that it was a week or so. But man what a difference! I was really amazed! Figured you have been huntin hard with the improved weather. Glad your son got the buck. Hope you get the tractor running that's agrivating when they don't run. Tried a jar of sweet pickle chunks the other day don't know if it was just the one jar or not yet but they were bad bad. Only 3 qts of those but plenty of delishious B&B's and spears to get us through. Brought out the big kids water and food yesterday and cut thing one and thing two [Peatwo and Btwo] loose in the coop and run. They had a ball investigating everything. Their world got bigger. Have about another half an hour to get the garage back to where it was before the flood. Looks pretty good! It went off limits to the chickens again. Still need to clean the 2 stall machine shed think the Jeep will sit outside while the tractor gets a stall.

The sump is now shutting off for awhile! Figured I might as well post the egg recipe in case anyone else wanted it. 4 C white vinegar, 2/3 C sugar, 2 Tbsp pickling spice, 2 tsp salt, 2 bay leaves, 2 Tbsp crushed red peppers flakes, Boil all ingredients for 5 min to disolve the sugar. Hard boil 2 doz eggs and pierce. Slice one onion and place some in the bottom of a gal jar fill half way with eggs add more onion then the rest of the eggs. Pour the hot brine over the eggs and refridgerate. They are great but deadly! Think the Pack will really have their hands full today. Would like to see another one in the win column!

DrH, do you pierce the yolks too or just the whites being careful to not hit the yolk? I know details details.
big_smile.png
do you pierce just once or more? more details I know!

my stupid clock fell back today. we got one that automatically falls back and springs forward. but since the dates changed our clock is off. DUMB!
Have a good day!
