Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Just wanted to post this real quick. It's DH's family tradition to open a present on christmas eve, so we allow Damien to open a present on xmas eve! Well, we let him open two, cause the first one he picked was Thomas the train tracks and well...he couldn't really play with that. He got Percy the green engine! He was soooo happy!

Sorry if it's huge, and ignore the date! We always forget to set it until we see the pictures AFTERWARDS.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!!!
Well wishes to all for a wonderful couple of days.
Thanks for the "ata girl" and nice words. People like that make me so mad, I just had to say something. Oh and with the screaming kids, went to church tonight with my parents. (I don't know why my mom lets me and me dad go, we are so naughty at christmas mass) There was a couple with maybe a 4 year old and a year and a half year old, those kids screamed and cried the whole mass. Now we go to catholic mass so you know it was a hour and 15 minutes long. The people around them were not happy. We were far enough away that it didn't bother us, but was entertaining to watch. Sometimes I want to say to parents like that, Listen they are to young to know better, so this is your fault. Please try to correct it before you let them lose on the rest of the population, OK. That might be alittle harsh so I just keep it to myself.

Well Im off to bed. Santa comes tomorrow and I've been a very good girl, so I best get lots of presents. Take care all!

Morning all--good Christmas morning! I jujst wanted to post this before my daughter and I go out for a Christmas horse ride...my DH wanted cookies so bad and asked if we had any and I said, "yup, they just arent baked." DHs children were here for Brunch and we had a great time. My children will be here in a little while for round two. Our house isn't big enough to have them all here at one time and it's really hard to get them all together on the same time table. We spent Christmas eve with my Parents and sibs at my brothers house last night. Sounds like your all enjoying the Holiday and thanks for the pic Raiquee he sure is a cute little guy. When my kids were little we did the same thing Christmas Eve, one present but I usually gave them new PJs. Terri your DH makes cookies the size all men would love.

that way they wouldn't eat 4 at a time

yes they would ! Have a good evening all. Susie

Ahhhhh...we are finally home. Was a lot of traveling, safely, with good weather and roads. Thanks to all those plow truck drivers out there! Boys all had a great Christmas, we were all very blessed this year. Received a bunch of gift cards to Menards and Tractor Supply Co. Because "I am always doing something for the chickens"....LOL
Wife got everything she wanted and more as well!!!
Hope you all have had an awesome Christmas!

Merry frigid morning, all! Just got in from bringing in more firewood. Oh, I love the smell of a fireplace and this one is cranking out enough heat to nicely heat the house with minimal furnace power. It's got a fan under it to distribute the heat and works great once it's warmed up. My goal? Keep it going.

Thanks to some rather large hardwood logs, the embers last the night and keep things going.

Just got in from checking on the chickaflicks. They clucked muchos appreciations for a bucket scrub and some warm water (not to mention the sunflower seeds and leftover crackers and mac-n-cheese).

Got some shots of the boys crowing and a few shots of them showing off to each other (which is the most I've ever seen them do, no real battles yet!) I'll post some if I got any good ones.

My eggies are doing well in the incubator and will go into lockdown this week. Quite excited, my first chickie eggs. Hope some do well!

Stay warm, stay safe everyone, and I hope you had a terrific Christmas. We sure did!

Morning All! Just stopping for a minute to say hi and hope all christmas gatherings were good. Getting ready for our final one today with my side of the family-about 13 of us. Making a ham, some roast beef slices along with mashed potatoes, stuffing, home grown carrots and green beans, German Potatoe salad rolls and such.

Have a good one!

Going sledding today and then cleaning out the car for a trip south to the cousins.

This last one reminds me of this scene in Beetlejuice:

Can anyone here tell me for sure what the lighter colored rooster is?

They come from parents carrying cuckoo and blue. I know the darker guy is a blue cuckoo. Is the lighter one a splash cuckoo or is that what a homozygous cuckoo blue looks like? I know they're both blue for sure, and they're both barred. Just don't know if it's a double blue gene or a double cuckoo gene (or both) making the lighter guy. Thoughts? Given what my Ameraucana splash pullet looks like, I don't think he's a splash. Just don't know what homozygous cuckoo roosters look like. Have heard they are lighter with more spaced out barring. I'm guessing he's a blue homozygous cuckoo... More pics of him:
